Déménagement Economax

I had a terrible experience with this company during my July 2025 move. I was charged for 11 hours (1,840 $) to move a small 700 sq. ft. apartment, even though many items were already dismantled and I had to help finish the job myself. Key items like my bed and a painting were left behind, and several things were damaged (lamp, picture frame, ping-pong table, and even my condo hallway).

Be careful. It seems they have a tendency to book a smaller truck than you need, and then have to scramble to add another truck at a considerable fee. We're not the only victims of this. We repeatedly asked for a bigger truck during the booking, but were told one truck would be enough. BTW the second truck was also full. So full that there is quite a bit of damage to our stuff. They took over my iPad (it was locked!!), not once but twice, posted a review in my name that I did not consent to. Not nice.

IN RESPONSE TO YOUR REPLY: I CALLED 4 TIMES DURING THE MOVE I SENT 1 EMAIL WITH NO REPLY I CALLED AT LEAST 3 TIMES AFTER THE MOVE I WAS TOLD THAT THE SUPERVISOR WAS TOO BUSY TO SPEAK TO ME DIRECTLY THE PROPOSED SOLUTION OF PICKING UP THE TABLE ON JULY 2ND WHEN MY MOVE WAS ON JUNE 23RD WAS OBVIOUSLY INADEQUATE AS EVERYTHING SHOULD HAVE BEEN GONE BY JULY 1ST NO EXTRA DISCOUNT GRANTED HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE, TERRIBLE SERVICE WORDS ARE NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO EXPRESS OUR DISSATISFACTION Horrible experience, worst move ever.

Warning, avoid this company! 😡 Romina made a poor cost estimate from the start, trying to get us to choose them because it was cheaper. The final bill ballooned to $3500 instead of the initial estimate of $2000. She estimated one 30-foot truck, but we had to order another one for the rest of our furniture and boxes, even though she could have determined from the beginning that all our belongings wouldn't fit in a 30-foot truck.

At first, I had written a great review because Paula was super nice on the phone and the movers were hardworking, until I noticed that they had broken the key inside the lock of my file cabinet and hid the remaining piece in the drawer and then wrapped the file cabinet. I called Paula to explain the situation and she said she will call me back. Right away I sent her an email with pictures to summarize the conversation. 2 weeks later, I called again and I was asked to call back Paula in 2 hours.

BE CAREFUL!!! The initially quoted price is fair, BUT many hidden charges are asked once they complete the job. This might be the unprofessional manner of their estomator, but on the estimation visit, she promised it would only be the hourly rate from the time they arrive until they finish the move and all the packing labor and materials is included in the hourly rate.

I regret booking our move with Economax. We moved from a 2-bedroom condo with a reserved large elevator to a house 4km away. The move was straightforward because we asked for almost everything to me put into an empty garage. Our furniture was already disassembled and our boxes were ready and organized. How it ended up costing us 1500$ is beyond me!! It is way more expensive than what we were suggested when quoted, and over double what friends payed for when moving with other companies in similar situations.

Worst moving experience I’ve ever had with Déménagement Economax. What was promised as a simple 6 hour move with a 32-foot truck turned into a 16-hour disaster with two full trips. They even wanted to come back for a third trip but was too late at night. I refused and had to call friends to finish moving the rest by car.
