So this particular review is based on their office staff/manager. I made a reservation for a uhaul online to be picked up at this location. Upon getting there I was greeted by a guy named Dave. I told him I was there to get my uhaul I had reserved online. So he takes my ID and credit card and hands me some papers and says to sign.

I had a very frustrating experience with Devon Self Storage in Gainesville, Florida, and would strongly caution others before renting here. I reserved a storage unit for move-in on December 31, 2024, at their Archer Road location. When I arrived with a rented U-Haul to unload my belongings, I was unable to access the property because the entry gate was malfunctioning and would not open properly. This completely prevented me from moving into the unit I had reserved.

I have been renting from this facility for the better part of a decade. The facility is much older and has always needed some degree of work here and there. That's not a terrible issue. The issues lays in the fact that for the entire time I've rented until the current company (Devon) there's been no issue with being able to pay the bill. Ever since Devon moved in, the payment system has been botched not just for myself but the other renters as well.

Just needed a unit to store extra stuff during move. What I got was an hour of wasted time along with 2 phone calls of incorrect info. Went to storage, no office as lady had discussed with me. Called her back and she seemed to not know there was no office at the one address. She also stated to be sure to get there by 3:30 as the office closed at 4:00 pm. Once I arrived at office, all prices for that address had listed different prices for the same units ???

I'm extremely disappointed with my experience. From the moment I started renting, the unit smelled strongly of decay—like a dead body. This wasn't the case when I initially agreed to rent the space. I was told a new tenant had moved in next door, leading me to believe the smell originated there. Initially, my complaints were met with indifference. After pushing the issue, I was told it was a 'chemical burn' smell and nothing could be done.

The following review is based on my personal experience with Archer Rd Self Storage, from Oct to Nov, 2015. In short, there are far better, more professional, more courteous, better value-for-the-dollar storage unit options in and around Gainesville. It is highly unlikely I will ever do business with them again, nor would I recommend them to my friends and family. The PROs: 1) Access hours: 6AM-9PM. Sort of the standard, I suppose, but I found them more than accommodating. 2) There are plenty of units available.

Rented our UHaul here last week. The gentleman who helped was very nice but the process was frustrating. We reserved a 26' truck for our one-way move. There were 2 trucks available -- the first had a relatively large gash on the rubber of one of the tires and although it may have been superficial, it wasn't worth the risk of driving 600 miles. So we requested the other which we were informed that the oil light may go on and it'd need oil. Well, sure enough, the minute we pulled out, the light went on.

So I was calling the night I had the uhaul and was told there was no extra fee if I kept it overnight. That is why I called. Couple days later it says im charged 103$ so I called to find out why. They told me it’s because of the overnight when they originally told me there was no fee. The guy behind the counter was in the background talking trash and playing dumb, all I asked for was good customer service and I was treated awful and they acted like it was my fault.
