In their own words
My husband and I (an elderly couple) had a terrible experience with Gator Movers. They were unprofessional, disrespectful and broke things including an old ceramic family lamp and a castor leg on a dining room chair). When I asked them to fix the chair, the mover told me to go to Home Depot myself to get the caster and to fix the chair myself.
If you expect competence, reliability, or even basic courtesy from your moving company, avoid Gator Moving at all costs. My experience was a disaster. On a sunny Friday, I had a move scheduled for 11 AM, which I confirmed earlier that day. It seemed straightforward enough—simply transferring my belongings from one apartment to another. But Gator Moving failed spectacularly.
I really hate leaving this review. I've never left a bad review for a company and want to support local small businesses, but this company left us high and dry - and when brought to their attention, did nothing to make it right. We have two young children and chose to use a moving company because we were moving almost two hours away and knew we needed to get the move done in a day. Adrian came to our property ahead of time and estimated we were just barely over one truck.
I was quoted 2323.20 for 2 vans 6 crew for an 8 hour move on one day. This is not my first move. John said they would be there at 9 am. They arrived at 10am the movers were pleasant. I was told a one Day move when quoted by Corey. A day before the move the owner John Reger called and told me that do to the hour that I closed that they would have to make the move a two day move. I closed at 3pm on both houses and was done by 4:30.
In my experience with them, the workers of this company were extremely unprofessional and rude. They swore at random residents on our apartment complex property repeatedly for requesting they not leave dog park gates wide open. My friend called their management and while the manager admitted the crew should have used an alternative gate, he did not make any kind of apology for the explicative language and treatment his worker made towards residents of our complex.
We received good service from the workers, but our belongings suffered considerable damage. We claimed damage to a dining table valued at $1,000 and received only $200.00 for the damage. The contract indicates that they will pay 66 cents per pound for the item they damaged. NOT RECOMMENDED! We received good service from the workers, but our belongings suffered considerable damage. We claimed damage to a dining table valued at $1,000 and received only $200.00 for the damage.
If they move people as well as they drive, stay away from these guys!! Whomever was driving one of these trucks this afternoon 8/24, around 4ish in Jacksonville, I95N, pushed me out of my lane. Thankfully, there wasn't a car to my right beacause thes guys would have sandwiched me in.
Happen to drive by one day and saw two of there guys passing a blunt between them. when I called the manager he ignored it and pretty much called me a lier. I wouldn't trust them to move my valuables while high.

In their own words
My fiance and I recently moved from Ohio to Gainesville, and we made the best decision when we decided to hire Gator. We had a piano that I was really in love with, and the whole trip down I was worried about moving it up the stairs to our second story apartment. At first we were only supposed to have two people but realizing we also had a 9' couch, we called and requested a third person. They made sure that they had a third person come out with no issues at all.
The owner John is responsive & totally straightforward. He runs a top-notch organization. Great communication, excellent service delivery. Far lower rates than competitors. The office staff is polite & helpful. Prior to moving day, they called to tell us the moving time. For moving day, we had a two man moving team (Gibson & Bobby) who arrived at the scheduled time. The movers were extremely professional, polite, and efficient.
I had to move to another city over the summer, and GM&S was wonderful! I called several places to get an estimate. Gator Moving & Storage was a reasonable price, and a friend recommended them. I'm especially glad I chose them, because everything else with this move was really stressful-- I wasn't sure how much furniture I'd be able to take, what day I was moving, where I was moving too... I was really relieved that C.J. was able to make scheduling the move so easy, because I could have ended up really stuck.
I can’t say enough good things about Gator Moving and Storage. This was the 2nd time I used them and I will continue to use them as long as they service my area. As someone who used to work in the real estate business, I was always cautious about referring a moving company as it usually turned out to be a poor reflection on my company. I wish I had known about Gator Moving all those years ago as I would not have hesitated to refer all of my clients to them.
