Background: I left New York due to coronavirus with nothing but a duffle bag. During that time my lease ended. I was unable to return prior, and requested that empire movers pack and move all my belongings into a storage unit. Upon returning they moved all my stuff back to my new apartment. Pros: -Generally easy to get a hold of and responsive (though caveated below) -Packaged my items carefully. Nothing that they packed was broken Cons: -Extremely expensive.
Hello Mr. Brandon Thank you for moving with Empire Movers. We understand your frustration and we apologize for the lost of the suitcases. It was a really difficult time for everyone, short staffed due COVID 19 lockdown.
While I thought the two movers did a good job once they finally showed up I was quoted a price and billed over $100 more than the quote with no explanation of what the extra charges were for. When I reached out I receive no response. I was also given a 3 hour window that the movers would arrive and the movers did not show up until 1 hour and 15 minutes after that window. Based on their lack of communication and unexplained extra charges I would not recommend.
CHEATERS!! I went with Empire because I had heard great things and the reviews overall looked good. First, they messed up my move date and then they tried to cheat me out of my dedicated truck. Initially, I went with a shared move but in the end decided to go with a dedicated move instead because I felt more comfortable knowing the truck was dedicated to moving only my items from NY to NC which I paid extra for.

this place literally sent the movers i hired to go do another job in between and charged me for it. what was supposed to be a 3.5 hour drive took them 9 hours. they then held my belongings hostage until i paid them and then stopped answering my calls & emails after. i'm taking legal action against them but i'd suggest not using them at all.
Empire lied about their being a Moving Company and are Brokerage for the pickup and delivery of your items. Alot of embellishing about who you would be dealing with between Empire Moving and the Actual Company who picks up delivers your items. Do not use them. RUN
Hi Deborah Based on a previous conversation we had, you are in conflict with a totally different entity, that is a broker and their name is Empire Moving Group. They are brokers and not affiliated with us.
Could've been a decent experience. Instead - the very thing they said they wouldn't do (keep coming back with price changes) they did. Was looking for a complete move from Long Island to Canada. Had agreed upon a price of $12k - they would load; they would deliver; they would unload. Storage became the issue -- they wanted $1200 month to store my goods. So, I found another place for storage. Asked if they would still do the delivery, etc.
WOW - TOTAL Rip Off. Stay Away. They charge $200 for three men and would charge $185 for two men so the 15 difference was small - and pushed for the three men. Then they charged me $200 for their travel time and a percent for gas. The men arrived very late and did not protect wooded floors that incurred some damage. They are rude and really terrible to work with - there are so many other better movers like "4 - life movers" I would recommend. It only took 2 hours to complete the job. They charged me $840.
I have moved with these guys 3 times and the 3rd time was indeed the charm! I emphasized several times that I have time constraints and I only want their services if they can be there at 9am. At 9:30am I called them and they said they will be there by 11-11:30 because they got a flat tire. Eventually they showed up at 12:15! After the move was done, the manager, Brad, called and gave me a total which was 80% higher than the flat rate he had given me over the phone just 2 days ago.

I was referred by a friend whom had done her move a few months ago. She did not steer me wrong. I made the arrangements with Virgil. He was great and took the time to do a Facetime walk-thru of my apartment so we can both be on the same page and nothing would be missed. Booking was fast and easy. I lived in a Co-op, so Virgil provided a COI for the building the same day I requested it. I moved a week after booking. Tudor and crew showed up early and they couldn't have been nicer and professional.
On a Thursday or Friday I requested 3 moving professionals for the following Monday to move the contents of my packed one bedroom and asked for early morning arrival. All 3 empire team members arrived on time and they followed tedious coop board move rules and were meticulous in both apartments, all hallways and inside buildings. My coop board required a very detailed certificate of insurance and empire provided exactly what was needed. This was the 5th time I have used them.
We sincerely appreciate you taking the time to write about your experience. It's delightful to know our team was punctual and efficient in handling your move, and that Emanuel and the crew exceeded your expectations.
This is a note of appreciation for Empire Movers. We were uncertain about our moving date because we needed approval of the buyer from the board of our Manhattan co-op and did not want to leave the apartment bare in case it had to go back on the market. Empire was flexible and adjusted the date for us a number of times. When we were ready to go, their crew arrived when promised and packed everything carefully and professionally.
