Horrific experience. My belongings were delivered more than a week late after the date on my contract. When my items were finally delivered, I was told I had to pay with cash even though my contract specifically says I can pay with credit card (and being that my company was paying for this, I needed it to be on my credit card). The office was closed during time of delivery so there was no way of rectifying this.
On April 19th, a crew from Empire Movers, Bronx, New York, moved me from an apartment on the UES to one in lower Manhattan in Peter Cooper Village. The signed agreement stated my current apartment was a 4th floor walkup and my new apartment was in an elevator building. I paid a fee for the apartment being a walk up requiring additional effort by the moving crew. The agreement was that I would pack everything that required boxing.
Worst movers ever. I used them to move from NYC to Boston and during the move they damaged my bike worth over $2000 and 2 chairs worth $400 each. When I called and complained about the damage I was sent on a goose chase to get help and was eventually offered $0.60 per pound for the damaged items. On a bike like I have that totaled $12, an insult.
Showed up 1 hour past the time window. Their truck broke down twice Took 6 hours to move a small one bedroom 6 blocks up the street My new building charges 169 dollars if your movers go past 3pm - which I stressed to the moving company while booking. It still took them until 5pm to finish. —— Edit 9/28/23 : thanks for your response. However, given that I wrote this review over two years ago and I’m just getting a reply today, It seems that your customer service is more inefficient than your moving team. Good luck!
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with Empire Movers & Storage. This falls short of our standards, and we're committed to addressing this issue. We deeply regret the delay and the extra charges incurred.
Never gonna go for them again. Florine the employer talked to me and after I explained everything I have, we agreed on 2 persons and 3 hours. He ended up sending me an extra person claiming to get the job faster and they ended up spending more hours even though I didn'thave much furniture! He charged me 300 more than we agreed. He's a dishonest man who got no value and obviously wanna make money of you. The movers themselves are very friendly though and want to ensure your satisfaction.
We used Empire Movers for a commercial move. The moving crew was great! Unfortunately, the office staff was disorganized and the planning of our move was very stressful and frustrating. Communication between the owner that conducted the initial walk-through and the office staff was poor. Plus, I had to ask for the arrival time 5 times before getting an answer - which required two phone calls on the day of the move. I would not recommend them.

This company’s truck collided into my parked car, left a note, and then the owner attempted to deny responsibility. This company should not be trusted, as they went out of their way to attempt to avoid responsibility for a crash that they caused. Do not use this company’s services for ANYTHING!

They will quote you an attractive price for moving/storage and then let you know the real price is close to double. Shifty business practices avoid them

Leticia was the perfect contact person for us. Moving into NYC from Texas with mostly new belongings was a daunting process. She made it extremely seamless for us. What could have been a very stressful situation, was so smooth. Definitely because of Leticiia's organization and communication. We were helping our son move from out of town. There were purchases made and Empire Movers meticulously inventoried every item that they received for well over a month. They constantly kept us updated.
