NEVER hire this company. they charge 50% extra from their estimate even though they have the exact items and route when giving the estimate because their crew is slow so they end up charging by the hour. at least two crews that are rude, slow and sloppy. 5 HOURS late to arrive and left a mess behind for me to clean. took double the time to finish the job of the estimate and when handed the overpriced bill they said they wouldnt unload anything until signed the paper and paid.

It's unfortunate that I am writing this review. I have used Family Moving & Storage for 2 previous moves in Chicago. Those move went smoothly and I had nothing but a great experience working with this company. Fast forward to my most recent move Summer 2023, and I didn't think twice about using this company again. I moved on a Saturday morning, the first slot of the day with an arrival between 9-11am.

To start, I booked months in advance. I wanted the first time slot. I was told our arrival time slot was 9-11. They showed up at 11:30. Then they arrived IN A BROKEN TRUCK!! The foreman told me as we were getting into the elevator that he brought a 4th person so now we have to pay that rate instead of the 3 man rate despite my quote and singed booking contract stating 3 people. When we were leaving the storage unit they were moving us out of, they left one guy in the back WITH THE SIDE DOOR OPEN!!

I shouldn’t even put one star, my experience seems to be the same as most reviews. Over an hour late, I signed for the estimated quote upon their late arrival which was $375, they packed my belongings into their van, I told them I’d meet them at the new apt, I took an Uber, I was at the new apt for more then 20 min before I called to see what was taking them so long, they said they were around the corners when they arrived they had snacks and drinks that they clearly just purchased from the 7-11 down the street…

Do not use this company before reading this review! It will save you thousands of dollars. I received a quote from the company, one truck, 4 workers, 6 hours, totaling $1,260.00. In speaking with a woman from the company named Danielle she said I can expect another $200 maximum in material costs, such as tape, shrink wrap, etc, but on the contract she put $100 because she said it rarely goes over! When all was said and done I ended up paying $3,622.00.

I hired this company to move me June 27, 2022. So they reschedule my move for June 28, 2022 so that I could have a larger truck. Now the nightmare begins they quote me $990 for 5 hrs and 4 mens to move a 3 bedroom house to a 3 bedroom house. Travel time between the two house is 15 minutes. They arrived 11:30 . Jimmy inform me that I will be paying for tape and the wrap.

Danielle was very nice and accommodating, very competitive estimate, and very transparent about what would have the cost. She scheduled my move for a 12pm to 2pm window. I sent her a text an called her to confirm ETA for arrival....no answer to the text or phone call. She finally text me and her response "My apologies, there are delays across the board today.

WORST MOVING COMPANY IN CHICAGO. Don’t hire them. Terrible lazy, disrespectful movers. No sense of accountability. - From pick up to drive to drop off Alex was incredibly disrespectful to me, my aunt, and my father. He (Alex) referred to me as a child. - The movers were 50min late from the allowed pick up time (9am-11am). - The movers left the pick up address at 1:15 and arrived at 3:58. That is 2 hours and 43min for a trip that takes a max of 1 hour and 30min. - My father and I brought everything in ourselves.
