In their own words
I've used Gentle Giant for five moves over the years, which makes writing this review particularly disappointing. The move itself went ok, but the customer experience felt dramatically different from what I've come to expect from the company. My scheduled arrival window was 9–10 a.m. When the crew called at 8:15 a.m. to say they were on their way, I was still finishing packing. I was told that if they had to wait until 10 a.m. to begin, I would be charged approximately $150/hour for their wait time.

Never again I'm afraid. Had a really terrible experience with my last move. Felt really unprofessional and as though I had hired some people randomly off of craigslist. They rushed the job, disregarded my concerns and instructions about my laminate flooring (even though I had been told over the phone there would be floor protection put down), threw my Imac in its case around on a cart, and haphazardly applied felt pads to my furniture (I'll have to redo some of it myself).

Their moving crew blocked the entryway to the SLU Public Storage freight elevator on 5/4 @ 10:45am with their moving truck so they could easily unload the truck, but they made it difficult for everyone else to use it. Pretty selfish and lacking in situational awareness. They could have parked one space over and left room for everybody

Appearing to be very detail oriented but never responded or returned our deposit. It took over a month of our time and BUYER BEWARE: seeming “quotes” are “estimates only” which I would be hesitant to have confidence in after their handling of my money and lack of communications.
John, thank you for the feedback and apologies for them miscommunication on the deposit. It should be refunded to your account as of now.
Was going to move with them, then remembered the guy asked if I had tiles to move, and I said no, there were only wood, and he kept saying, "If there's any tiles" as if he were trying to prove a point. Not interested in mind games.

I have done my fair share of moves, both local and across various states, and this is by far the best moving company I’ve ever used… by a landslide. First, I called for a quote to move from Seattle to SF and instead of having me take inventory, they ended up sending someone (I had a 4 bedroom home) to give me an estimate so I wouldn’t be surprised (quote and actual payment were not far off at all).

I have used GG for 3 or 4 moves and have always been satisfied with the experiences. The movers work hard and are quick, they're pleasant and polite, and I have never noticed any damage. The estimates are reasonable, the final charge is usually under the estimate, and I appreciate how the lead makes reasonable adjustments (ie. for contributing my own moving boxes/packing materials). The only times I have not worked with Gentle Giant on a move have been when they were not available.

I changed my mind a few times, and she was always flexible, responsive, and friendly. She and the administrative team confirmed our dates ahead of time, sent reminders, and called the day before to confirm the arrival window.

To begin with I cannot recommend this company highly enough. Following are the many reasons: 1. Alex the sales manager was great with communication. He worked with me to get dates for movers to come and pack up uhaul boxes that we were using while staging our house which happened quickly. 2. The teams that came to our house were careful with all our items. They were amazing at Tetris and packed as much as they could into the boxes. 3.
