If you are planning an interstate move, go with untied van lines/companies that contract with united van lines. I think this company and their partner for interstate moves (allied van lines) does not know how to handle situations when things go bad. Unfortunately, I don’t have the time or energy to fight the unfair compensation I received from errors and damage. I trusted the reviews and it seems when things go well, they are great.
DO NOT USE FOR INTERNATIONAL MOVES. Hansen subcontracts with international shipping companies, but they don't tell you until after you start working with them. They act like they have experience and even give you details about international process that prove to be false. Then after you start to work with them they "turn you over to a colleague" and you get an email from another company!!
My in laws used this service to pack their home and Hansen Bros. hired a different freight line to move the goods. They just had their stuff dropped off and a bunch of the boxes are smashed because they put the heavy boxes on top of the light boxes ?!? What a joke. Overall it was a horrible experience for them. Their was also a lot of problems with the shipping. They were told their goods would arrive on Tuesday, then nothing came and they were told Friday.
Mr. Tassani, Like you, we are greatly disappointed that your in-laws move did not proceed exactly as planned. For over 131 years Hansen Bros. has made customer satisfaction our top priority.
We were so scarred by our 2013 moving experience with Hansen Brothers (from Seattle to St. Paul) that in our 4 moves since then we have not used movers at all. We sold and donated as much as possible and shipped things in big crates and boxes. We ended up back in Seattle and still have a storage unit there. We actually packed and drove a truck from Denver to California and still have storage in Seattle. Here are the details: 1.
Hansen Bros. conducted my residential move on 5/27/20. The lead mover, Antonio, tried to have me sign off on 10 hours of move time before even starting, despite the Hansen Bros. estimator saying the move would be 8 hours. He also had me initial some sections of the contract & became pushy when I asked for clarification. We had to call Hansen Bros. for clarification because Antonio refused to do anything unless I signed the form.
We have never had this happen before in a move (and we've moved a number of times), but our nanny had $1000 -$1200 cash go missing 2 hours into our move while the furniture was being moved & the trucks were being loaded. She was in tears and we had to stop the move, have a very awkward meeting with the crew, have 2 supervisors out, file a police report, etc. and then continue with the rest of the move. It was a nightmare.
I didn't have a great experience with this company. Importantly for interstate moves they only load and offload your belongings into a warehouse, which are then packed into a freight container and transported by a freight company. So the process is quite long. When their movers came to get my things, it seemed like one hadn't showered for days- big sweat stains, not tidy, noticeable odor- and he's the guy sweating all over my personal belongings! The second guy wouldn't make eye contact or say hello.
Hansen Brothers is downright ABSOLUTE WORST MOVING COMPANY my husband & I have ever experienced! If you’re looking for a moving service, please do yourself a favor and look elsewhere!!! The Washington location to be specific. We’ve been charged nearly $10k for moving (from one penthouse to another), the price wasn’t the factor, the piss poor service & attention to detail is however! Why you ask? I’ll list a wide array: 1.

I used Hansen Brothers for two moves during the last year. One was moving from a 2-bedroom apartment, to a house and the other was moving a 300 pound BBQ. In both cases, the team was highly responsive efficient and thorough in making the plan and using technology to lower the effort on my part. On the days of the move, everyone show up on time and executed the move perfectly, with proper packing & protections around walls and floors.
This is the second move I've made with Hansen Bros. Moving & Storage. I came back because of the high-quality service. Good value for the price and careful, efficient, timely service. The team arrived on-time. They treated my goods as their own. All went off without a hitch. I highly recommend the company.

This was an emotional move due to the unexpected death of a family member, and having to have them completely moved out of their rental home in less than 2 weeks. Not only did Hansen Bros. find time in their schedule for us for our move, I discovered EVERY single person I spoke with and worked with is a fantastic employee of a company that knows how to do moving RIGHT.
