Man With A Truck Movers and Packers Local & Long Distance Moving Company

I hired two movers through MWAT, im assuming they subcontract out because movers from 2pure showed up. I live in a 1 bed 750 sq/ft apartment. The elevators were reserved for us here and also at the destination, with parking right at the exit of the building. Everything was packing into medium and large uhaul boxes lined up at the door, or disassembled furniture. No random objects, unpacked or random boxes. As uniform and prepared as humanly possible.

A little over a year ago I used MWAT movers and had a great experience. So I booked them again, got a different crew and had the WORST moving experience of my life. The 3 crew members didn't speak well enough English to communicate effectively, were extremely unprofessional and argumentative, disagreeing with me about the simplest instructions or requests. At one point seriously asked me 'is this how you want your day to go, why are you arguing with us'?

The movers themselves were very polite and tried their best and we understand accidents happen. We can tell they were working very hard and appreciate their efforts. However, my LG OLED tv screen was scratched because the mover used a box cutter to remove the packaging without being careful. The wall was also dented and scratched in our brand new build home. Again, we understand accidents happen, but the company offers low ball compensation.

The movers were very slow and took much longer than expected to get everything moved, which caused my moving costs to be double what I was quoted. It took about 7 hours and I was charged nearly $1000 to move from a 1 bed to a 2 bed, right down the street. I called multiple times before the move confirming that there were enough movers but when they showed up their first words were "wait do we have to move everything here?".

I had a move with MWAT in November. They took a very long time to move my items, when I’ve had previous companies in the past be able to do it much more efficiently. I tried to help so it would quicken the pace, but they would then take the furniture for me and wrap it on their own. I offered that I didn’t need some products wrapped so we could get things in the truck, but they insisted wrapping every single piece 3+ times, even after I prepped many pieces on my own.

My solid wood floor was damaged during the move. While moving a piece of furniture out of my house, my solid wood floor was gouged approximately 20 ft. The scratch started at the back bedroom and went to the front door. The team notified the company right away and photos were taken. I submitted the bid and received one of two options. The company offered to pay me $200 for $6000 of damage or I can have them turn it into their insurance. Offering to pay $200 for $6000 of damage is a slap in the face.

We used the OC crew for our move today. I would definitely not recommend. After they ripped off a coat hanger and put a huge gash in our front door, they then stood over me and bullied me into leaving a 5 star review, which I’m obviously updating now, in order to “get a bonus.” They also lost metal poles for an expensive dog crate, which is now useless and they insist that they were delivered. Instead of checking their truck, they just keep telling us that we have them.

Because of a last minute rental change I had to cancel my original movers and use Man with a Truck Not sure if the business model is to hire smaller local companies, and maybe charge a finders fee? The movers that showed up were not from MWAT specifically, but were a different company. I've moved 5 times in the last few years, and this was by far the worst experience. Inefficient and casual while moving, damaged multiple high value items. Only pro was the price was quite cheap in comparison to other movers.
