Worst experience ever. She was not given the opportunity to check off her inventory list as the men unloading her were to busy to be bothered to do their job Several things were broken or damaged and they have lost the table legs to my mother's dining room set and are refusing to receive a claim for this stating it is past her 7 day period. How was she to know they were missing when she was not given the opportunity to check off her inventory list as her things were being unloaded into storage.
We were provided a quote in April for packing our home for our June move. We got a call on the Friday afternoon before they were supposed to come on Monday that the prices had tripled because of the prices of packing materials. We were forced to sign a new agreement or services would not be provided. When my husband called the company the management was rude and refused to speak to him.
Effie, This is not a completely accurate account. We did call you the business day prior to a packing only job. The estimate did indeed increase, but it did not triple the original estimate. Our representative took full responsibility for that.
Not impressed with this company at all. The movers showed up and did not put anything on the floors or wall corners for protection. Being a very hot day I brought out a cooler full of Gatorade for them to have. They moved all the boxes to the driveway and sat in the garage listening to explicit music for hours. When I asked about the stall they told me they couldn't figure out how to load the truck with all of my stuff.
I've used Harrison's in the past and was pleased with their service and attention to detail. I contacted them a few weeks ago and evidently they are under new ownership, because customer service has gone down hill. Due to my schedule i was unable to meet them before 4:30pm....both the receptionist and one of their sales persons (Tony) were either more concered with getting the company cars back by 5pm or going on vacation in Tony's case.
We used Harrison’s moving company in June for our across town move. The 4-man crew showed up in two batches which made the start of things slow. The first two didn’t even show up until close to 10am for a summer move, the last two closer to noon. They damaged a dresser and only want to give me $60 for it even though all the paint is chipping off the top now. I just discovered they completely stripped the bolts on my crib and put it together incorrectly.

My mother just recently moved to Maine from Virginia. However , while she was still here in VA, the "packers " must have chopped down the trees and made their own packing paper , because they used more paper than boxes!!!! I kid you not, they only packed the boxes half full and filled the rest of the box up with paper. My mother just literally unwrapped A BOX OF TOOTHPICKS that these " packers" used 2 sheets of paper on !!!
Worst pack out ever... Harrison moving and storage in Virginia. This is just one of many four foot tall wardrobe boxes... the packers, besides treating me terribly just dumped in my art supplies with no care or order. As a Navy vet and wife to a retired Navy chief, we've had more than a few major moves through the years. Never have I ever had such a dreadful experience. My footboard for my bed looked like kindling. Christmas ornaments crushed under boxes of books. Too many terrible things to even mention.

This company moved us from VA to NC for a military move and it was the worst experience ever. The packers were really nice, although when they were done one of them kept asking us for a beer (which we gave him after the 3rd time he asked). We were told none of our stuff could be self packed so he instead threw everything in wardrobe boxes except a few other boxes (which ended up being completely smashed). The guys who came and packed the truck were super nice and courteous. No issues with them at all.

In their own words
Tony was fantastic to work with. He was prompt, responsive, and honest. The two men that came and packed our house were extremely nice and hardworking. When our movers came, the driver and unpacked were very polite and efficient. They even asked if we needed help putting anything together before they left. The only complaints I have is that when the packers came, they would not take our patio furniture, because it was raining. This put us in a tough position.
Thanks for sharing your review with us and the community. We apologize for the delay you experienced as well as the unfortunate situation with your patio furniture. Unfortunately we cannot move wet items, especially when it involves storage, as it can lead to mold.
I recently contracted with Harrison's Moving Co. to move my mother's household from Virginia Beach to Western North Carolina. The whole process, from quote, packing, loading, and delivery was efficient, courteous, and professional. I was very impressed with the careful attention given by each member of their team to handling antique furniture and fragile items. We got exceptional service for a fair price and I highly recommend this company.
Retired Navy family making our first (and possibly last?) non-military move. Overall, Harrison's provided a very positive experience during a predictably stress-filled time, moving approximately 15K lbs from Chesapeake VA to Tampa FL. Michael Carrithers was our salesman, weight appraiser and contact point throughout the move. He was very transparent and forthcoming in all aspects - tried hard to ensure I understood the process from start to finish without any surprises.

Overall a good experience. The packers, loaders and unloaders where great. Very professional, friendly, and efficient. Only a few small items damaged which is normal in my experience and no big deal to me. Well done Cliff and team. I spent a lot time researching and reading reviews since this is the first move I had to pay out of pocket. Its very interesting the differences in pricing and weight estimates between companies.
