The customer service rep for United Van Lines/Hilldrup who set us up for the service was great! That's where the professionalism ended. The owner/operator/truck driver was rude from the very start. Instead of a professional moving crew we got two teenage "summer interns", a woman and her young daughter who needed a place to play & rest and another guy who was non-verbal & strong armed everything. At the end of the furniture pick up The driver told us that this was his "B" crew.

The gentlemen were nice but kept packing the things I told them to leave and left about 21 dents/scratches/holes in my walls, baseboards and floors. Also packed dishes as a whole stack and didn’t wrap them individually. Going through my stuff right now unpacking and I’m finding so many of my brand new things broken or damaged.

One of the loaders working a local move stole two handguns. It was obvious who did it. The management told us it was not their problem. and to get lost Recently received a call that the guns had been recovered in an arrest. Very poor treatment by Hildrup.
Had a cabinet delivery with a scheduled window of 12:30 - 4:30pm. 4:30 came and went with no phone call. Called dispatch repeatedly until this closed at 5pm and could only reach someone’s voicemail. Jobsite has to be closed at 5pm due to contract with the owners. Driver calls at almost 6pm says he’s 10 min away with the cabinets. I tell him he’s way past his 4 hour window and the jobsite is closed. I tell him he can come Saturday morning and he says ok.

The worst experience I’ve ever had out of 16 moves I’ve done. Incompetence all around with a disrespectful team leader who had a bad attitude after 2.5 hours (it was projected for 6.5 and took them 13.5 due to miscalls by the leader and a garbage filled truck requiring two trips back and forth), came with no tools (borrowed some from my neighbor and measured things using his feet) and a dirty, garbage-filled truck and a clerical staff who hassles me for my credit card info, on paper, starting 7 days in advance of…

Hilldrup drivers almost killed me and my mother blowing through a 4-way stop at Peebles Rd and Mitchell Mill Road today. It was a very large truck and they didn't even slow down. I was about to go through the intersection when they came flying down the road and through the stop sign! I would never hire such careless drivers!
Fairly good job in moving with relatively few broken items (we had broken items) but boxes were not labeled correctly and ended up all over our new home. We had to get them to load the majority of our boxes to a temporary location because we did not know which room they were to go into.

Left four screws out in the install of the table and did not even mention that they had extra hardware. Not white glove.

Great experience with Hilldrup! We stored furniture during a home renovation. Rodney Ware, the driver and supervisor, arrived with Dewayne Bass and Rashun to move the furniture back into the home. What a great crew and wonderful communication! Rodney called to give me the arrival time and was punctual and professional. He made sure that I was completely satisfied with the experience from start to finish. Dewayne and Rashun were also very courteous and professional and a pleasure with whom to work.

The overall experience was alright, although over 22 years they were nowhere near the best. I’ll start with the positive. The crews that packed me in Saudi and the crew led by Walter that unpacked my HHE were both outstanding. Both crews were professional, efficient, and took great care with my things. Both teams get a resounding five. For the negative, it seemed that the company’s internal communications were poor at times. No one would schedule a pre-pack out date and I finally had to call the mover directly.

I would give 100 stars to the movers, Rodney and Bernard, because they worked incredibly hard and were super friendly. Leading up to the packing day, communication was excellent with the main office. However, my only complaint is that on loading day, the company only sent two movers (0/5 stars). It was unrealistic for them to complete all the work within the given timeframe with only 2 people, but they did their absolute best despite the impossible situation. This led to some issues.

Used Hilldrup and United Van Lines for a move out of the Triangle area. Estimate actually came in a bit higher than the real weight and had no trouble changing around a few large items a couple of weeks prior to the move. Was offered an earlier move date with guaranteed 3 day delivery (I declined). Van showed up on time and the crew was great. Once our stuff was on the truck contact was a bit more difficult.
