Local muscle damaged my couch, ripped the upholstery, busted through the dry wall in the hall ways of the building I was moving out of, and never responded to my many phone calls and emails about the experience. I've moved three times with Local Muscle and my first two experiences were wonderful, but my 3rd move was bad and was never rectified by the company. The team they sent was unprofessional.
I've used Local Muscle several times in the past, and have always recommend them highly -- until now. In fact, when I rented my 4th floor walk-up apartment, I even threw in an hour of their moving time as a renter's incentive. HOWEVER, the last experience I've had with them, and the experience of even trying to get someone to call me back about my concerns has been horrendous. Here's what happened: 1) I was moving out of the fourth-floor walk-up apartment (which Local Muscle moved me into a few years ago).
UPDATE: They arbitrarily will increase prices when the job is too small. After a great and reasonably priced first experience with them, I reached out to get some assistance with moving things into storage and received a quote that was MORE than the full cost of unloading my POD. In the two weeks since the unload, they have implemented a 3 hour minimum at $230/hour due to their "busy season", plus their standard plethora of fees. My original cost was $220/hr with a 2hr minimum.

absolutely HORRIBLE. to begin, they broke our furniture and refused to pay for it even though movers acknowledged breaking it. max broke it and admitted to it, then told us to glue it back together. they have offered us just $30 for an antique dresser. they have been completely rude to us and lied ever since we have brought this to their attention - claiming all sorts of excuses such as a 9 month written claim period (they only told us that if the glue didn't hold to call them back and they will take care of it…

I am not pleased with the service and follow-up. I tentatively scheduled a move date via phone. I was asked to give a credit card for a deposit which will be charged once move was confirmed. I did not receive an email or contract however was told that if I had to change the date that it would be fine and if they could not accommodate the date I needed that they would fully refund my deposit.
I would give these guys negative stars if I could. They broke and damaged many items and didn't even return my calls when I left a message to find out what their policy was on damaged and broken items. They rushed through our move like they had a train to catch, broke my new ceramic Kamado Joe grill, damaged a 2K bed, and then with black greasy hands moved a white couch and wouldn't even listen to my urging of wearing gloves on their hands so they wouldn't damage the fabric on the white couch.

Absolutely love these movers! The process from start to finish was so effortless. Everyone was really professional and kind, from booking the appointment to the movers themselves. Zack, Cyrus, and Eric were so great, I’m recommending them to everyone. They came in the apartment to get a sense of what they’d be moving, asked me some great questions, then proceeded to start the move. We were done in under 2 hours! They were so professional and never said anything negative when moving the annoying heavy furniture.
These movers exceeded all of my expectations. Billy and Cyrus were on time, professional, highly skilled, and efficient. Carl booked the move for me. He was incredible too. His estimate was spot on. There were no hidden fees. There was a fuel charge and trip fee plus the two men and a truck, but exactly as quoted. The workers took a half hour break off the clock. That’s a sign of great management. They worked so hard and took that break so they were fresh for the unloading.
