BEWARE! Movers arrived at 9:30 am -- our move time was 10 am--and called yelling that if we didn't open the door they would leave. Upon entry, no hellos, just glares. Turns out they overbooked and had a big move right after ours. Poor planning on their part. They do not wrap any of our furniture, so it arrived at our new home dirty, and put our bedframe together so hastily, when we got in to go to sleep, the frame broke and we fell to the floor. Unacceptable.

I hired Low Cost Movers for a move on 4/10/2021. I ran into a number of problems. When it came time to take the stuff to my new apartment, they said that all of the stuff was out of the apartment and they were ready to leave. I said I would check the apartment and be right back. When I checked the apartment, there were a few things left in plain sight in the apartment. I changed the heat/air conditioning settings and went back down to give the stuff to them, but they had already left.
Hello Jim, We hope you are enjoying your new home. We ensured that the 3-man team tasked with your move understood the tight elevator windows and travel time involved to make sure everything was moved to your new home within the proper windows.
I booked a mover with them to move my 1 bed apartment. However, they ask me to reschedule my booking at final hours. Since, I need to move on the same scheduled day, I was forced to cancel this mover and look for others. They are very unprofessional. Although they are slightly cheaper than other movers ($5 per hour), I strongly recommend to avoid this mover, these might give you trouble at the final hours.
This customer unfortunately is not posting a truthful recounting of events. We informed this customer over 48 hours in advance of his move that we couldn't accommodate his exact arrival time due to the recent blizzard and servicing the re-scheduling needs of impacted clients.
Follow-up Review: I'd add some comments to the owner's reply - The insurance policy they provide is NOT reasonable, which goes by weight - $0.30 per pound. For my case, it took one-month to get $100 compensate for something worth $900+. The moving cost I paid to the company was $1,033.02. Eventually, I have to accept their offer to settle the case beacues I cannot afford to keep the house vacant for months. By the way, I signed their "General Release" on 4/22, and no one replied to me when the check would be cut.
While we always strive to make every move as seamless as possible, not every move is perfect. In this customer's case we sent our drywall and floor technician out at the first date that worked for both the customer and technician's schedule.
I used low cost movers back in 2012 and had a great experience so I decided to use them again for my move this May 2024. It was a VERY different experience this time around. I was originally quoted around $400 for my move. My move ended up costing almost $800 (double the price)! I was moving some stuff (not a ton) from a 1 bedroom condo to a storage unit.

These guys were great! I had a last minute move of several large pieces of expensive restaurant equipment. The were able to accommodate a move the very next morning. The two guys that came out were extremely professional and thorough. They brought the necessary tools to take apart the equipment and ensure no damage was caused getting it through doors and onto the truck safely. Door to door it was an efficient and seamless move, and the price was very fair...

I've used LCM for multiple moves and couldn't be happier with the experience. In particular, the last move of mine was not easy. The logistics of the home I was moving out of are not a mover's dream. Three stories, tons of heavy item furniture pieces, and most significantly, the distance from my townhome to the closest available spot for the moving truck was vast. Likely, a 60 or 70 yard distance. So imagine this haul countless times over a three hour span. It was true labor.

We were moved in Sept 2022 by LCM from Evanston to Chicago. Overall things were ok, but there were a few issues worth mentioning. When they arrived, I approached the truck and the three men just glared at me, nobody said hello or good morning. They didn't seem too happy to be there. I suppose I wouldn't be either. But whatever. I thought we were paying a flat hourly rate of $125 per hour.
