Making Moves

BEWARE, RUN, AVOID AT ALL COATS. If I could give zero stars, I would. We have been in our new house for about 5 months now and we are still finding damaged things and things missing from our move. Once they sign you, their communication goes to almost non existent. They brought a truck too small for our move even though we did a video through our whole house. They broke our coffee table and tv stand, put both beds together incorrectly, and left a slew of things at our old house.

I've waited on giving this review, so that I could calm down from my utter disgust with this company. The move out of our home was ok, but not great. In storage they managed to lose and break a few items, and although not terribly expensive, very frustrating. I received an initial charge which was almost the amount of the total estimate I'd received for the completed move. When I questioned it, the owner / manager said that the completed charges would not be that much more, but that it was an estimate.

Tristan, Evan and Bradley were great movers. They worked hard and efficiently and were respectful for the entire move. The 2 star review is for the owner. We scheduled our move at 1pm and the movers showed up 3 hours late (and the truck died twice during the move requiring a jump). It happens, I can understand some things are unavoidable. We asked for the unload to be the next morning, which was something we had discussed with the owner on the phone prior agreeing to go with Making Moves.

Scam! Service is pay by the hour....they sent a really good crew and they hit the estimated time dead on....then they sent a crew that rode the clock and did not come close to hitting the estimated time. Owner was unresponsive and unwilling to take full ownership. Blew the original estimate by 30%. Here’s the scam...they ask for a card to secure a deposit to be scheduled so.....when we tried to dispute the super unproductive and unprofessional crew charges...they just ran our card on file without authorization!

My experience from a service performed November 2020. A few months after moving I discovered they didn’t assemble my bed with hardware and the bed collapsed when turning in for the night. 2 years later I discovered the same with my daughter’s bed. She only weighs 40lbs or it probably would’ve happened beforehand. Very frustrating to assemble furniture at 10 PM at night when I was charged a premium, but competitive rate, for what I believed was a quality service. This is not the case.

Started off the move by driving their moving truck into the neighbors ditch and possibly damaging their property. Had to be towed out of the ditch. After arriving an hour after the time they said they would be there due to driving into the ditch that’s when it really started to be a bad move. Mattresses were not protected and were place into the dirty truck and got dirty (new mattresses) when especially asked for mattress plastic covers. Multiple items broken due to not securing boxes correctly on truck.

My wife and I moved from Memphis to Chattanooga. I drove a 26 ft U-Haul from Memphis to Chattanooga and making moves was supposed to be at our apartment to unload the truck at 10:00 a.m. after many phone calls they finally showed up at 7:00 p.m. three men one older and two younger arrived to unload the truck to our apartment on the 4th floor. Fortunately there was an elevator.

BEWARE of Making Moves, in Cleveland, Tennessee. We strongly suggest not using this company for any of your moving needs. We originally hired a moving company to move us into pods after selling our home. The company did a good job, but we could not get them to show up on time for work and would often be waiting until lunchtime or later for them to arrive. We decided to choose a different moving company this time. Making Moves, located in Cleveland Tennessee, had a few good reviews online.
