Mambo Movers

Full disclosure, there are two components to take into account with Mambo Movers. First, the movers. They get the job done and things dont get broken. So thats nice. However, there is a second component. Billings/Corporate. Specifically, they will milk the clock. They are the only moving company that refuses to provide quotes, and theres good reason. They will make a 3 hour job take 5-6 hours. If you call up corporate, you are a making a mistake.

Mambo Movers were touted to us as the best in town, but we had anything but the best in our experience. For background, we’ve moved 5 times in the past 6 years (including across states) and this is the only time we’ve had an issue. To start, the movers showed up late. They were supposed to come between 9-9:30 and rolled up at 10. They also didn’t get a permit for the move, which struck me as odd, because all other companies I’ve worked with have taken care of that.

Booked for an afternoon move and was told that the time would be fluid but 3ish I should expect the crew. I knew I should be flexible, so I waited an hour before calling them. No answer, left a voicemail Figured I would do everything I could without them but every now and again I would call them, Now it is now 7pm on what should have been my moving day and I have not heard from them still.

Avoid at all costs. I booked and confirmed the afternoon move time frame. On day of move no one answered the phone or emails. There were no confirmation calls after the initial booking and no way to ensure someone would show up. I needed to cancel last minute to find an alternative vendor to avoid breaking the terms of my lease. A logistics company that cannot answer the phone, emails, Instagram or Facebook outreach, in my opinion, has a value of zero. Avoid them if your move has any importance to you.

Canceled on me on moving day an hour before my move was scheduled. The lack of professionalism of this moving company is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. I would give them zero stars if that were an option. They called only a couple hours before my move to explain they had no truck, and were only coming with a van. I had a 20’ ft trucks worth of stuff to move, and when I explained that it would take much longer with a single van, they refused to adjust my hourly rate to account for their mistake.

3 guys showed up at the tail end of their arrival window. One of the guys reeked of whiskey. I was helping move stuff / carrying things and many times the guys were just chit chatting at the truck. I think I worked harder than they did. They said they would not take all of our stuff because the truck was full (there were 2 of us and we were coming from a one bedroom apartment with an office).

Thinking back on our move last year it’s hard for me to recommend Mambo Movers. We told them we would be moving items from 3 properties to one house all in the same neighborhood, but since two of them were just a few doors down from each other, the person we talked to on the phone told the movers it was one house, which immediately put them in a not-great mood when they found out.

Broken and damaged items, etc. While unloading the truck, I noticed that they had one of the boxes labeled "fragile/glass" at the bottom of a pile. I started to grab the other boxes but was told to leave them alone. The mover carried all three boxes to my apartment and actually dropped them. Often, they'll carry boxes behind their backs (which in actuality is pretty remarkable). However, when setting the boxes down, there is almost no other way to let them down other than to drop them.
