Melrose Moving

Unfortunately, a few weeks ago, I had a terrible experience with Melrose Moving that I feel compelled to publicly share. The moving team was slow, did not follow my provided instructions (e.g., they loaded items into the moving truck that I had specifically told them not to and that I would personally transport myself because they were fragile, work equipment, or donation items, etc.), carelessly unloaded and dumped my things into chaotic piles at my new place, causing some of my fragile (and sentimental) items to…

This was my first experience with Melrose Movers. I picked them because they touted all the great reviews they had. Setting up the move was easy and professional. They represented I would get a call from the movers between 8-10am and the move would occur starting in that window (I was of the belief that my move was the first of the day and I'd likely be done by 10am since it was small move). By 9:30am, I had not received any communication from anyone.

1 bedroom apt with exactly 10 40 gallon totes, 1 queen bed frame and mattress, 1 50in TV, 2 60in bookshelves, 1 30in TV stand, 1 sofa, 1 love seat, 1 end table , 1 30in dresser Moving 20min drive to another 1bed apt Took nearly 7hrs! These dudes took breaks every few min, slow walked everything. That amount of items by any two regular guys would have taken an hour max to load. It took them 3hrs!

Update: Removed 3 stars. I only left the previous 5 star review because the crew leader asked me to, while standing over my shoulder reading it and taking a picture of it. The reality is that these movers showed up without a truck, asked me when the truck would arrive, waited for the truck for almost 2 hours. One of them dragged a heavy dolly up my wood stairs, hitting every step along the way, multiple times, despite my asking them to be more careful.

Movers Beware - Very disappointed with my moving experience: This company outsources to other local movers so instead of a Melrose Moving Truck and crew arriving to do the work I received another company that I had no time to research. This other moving company named MoverTron, damaged my TV, dinged a couple of my furniture items, and took very little care in my art prints where some of the smaller items ended up being bent or crumpled during the move.

I will never go with this company ever again. Workers moved slow, workers sitting in the truck while others are moving. Should not have taken 5.5 hours to move 5 mins down the road when we have already moved quite a bit the night before. They tore up the floor then acted like they had no idea when I watched them do it. Scratched up furniture after putting tape directly on it instead of using moving pads their company provides. Best part is, they leave it unorganized like this. And for 1500????

This is literally the worst moving experience I’ve ever had. They didn’t show up at the contracted time, they had 1 guy that literally sat on my couch and then went and took a nap in their truck during the move. They took forever to get the truck loaded and charged me for all of the extra time for them dragging their feet and having a lazy out of shape guy on their team. They also showed up with a much smaller truck than we ordered which caused them to have to make 2 trips instead of just one.

The movers are friendly and professional, but they were not efficient (and i doubt it’s intentional). They are obviously not putting their 100%. They took several breaks, and eating and using phone during the move. I end up just staying with them as long as possible to keep them moving. It takes 1-2 hours longer than expected. One mover always pick the lightest and not carrying more while he has capacity. The worst part is they left trash and boxes at my place.
