When quoting with merit for an out of state move I worked with Joe Almeida, I provided a list of all large items and their dimensions a video walk through in which I showed inside every cabinet, drawer, and closet in my home as well as a virtual walk through with Joe. He quoted me 36 boxes for all the miscellaneous stuff. This doesn’t include mattress, tv, wardrobe. His quote was also much higher than others. I expressed that I thought 36 boxes was extremely conservative as I had downsized significantly in prep.

We had to use Merit Moving for our cross country relocation to California. The office staff was polite, accommodating and usually timely with responses in the earlier phases of the move. The actual move crews were extremely disappointing on both ends. The packers shoved things in places they didn’t belong, wrapped things like tiny diamond stud earrings in gigantic 3 foot pieces of crumpled papers so they easily were thrown away not knowing it was something fragile.
Our goal is to provide an excellent moving experience for all our customers. We're very disappointed that you were dissatisfied with your move. Please note, it's against our corporate policy to pay for or ask for reviews to be removed. We simply ask that customers provide fair reviews.
Planned on moving from California to Arizona. They front end of the business was very nice but told me that I had plenty of room for extras. Moving day they said that I had a few extra items that were not in the list. Told me that they have to charge me 10$ per cubic foot. Which was an additional $1000. No body told me about the extra charge if I went over by a few ft. I spoke to multiple people not one person mentioned the additional charge.

Incredible experience moving cross country. My wife and I moved from LA to NYC this year, and we did a lot of research on moving companies that could handle the cross-country move and keep our stuff safe and arriving on time. We heard horror stories from friends about other companies pretending to be full service movers and then brokering out the job, so we were highly skeptical, but Mayflower and Merit Movers were both the exact opposite.
