In their own words
Incompetent delivery system. They changed the schedule TWICE and were still HOURS late, no call. This affected my next two piano deliveries, and inconvenienced many people.Third recipient stood in the sun waiting 90 minutes and they never showed up (although they said they did). 3rd recipient got a sunburn for his trouble. He STILL hasn't gotten his piano, THREE DAYS later. The owner/manager interrupts constantly and he knowingly lied to me at LEAST twice. Rude arrogant man. And, where is the 3rd piano?
They dropped my piano and not only damaged my piano but crushed the hardwood stairs in my entry way. I’ve been trying to get them to pay for the repairs to my home for several years and I still have no response.
This USED to be a five star company. I had them tune and move pianos for myself and my family members for the last fifteen years. I had a piano I was looking to buy and move into my new home, and wanted to get a technician out to see if the broken pedal could be repaired before purchasing, hiring them to move and re-tune both the piano for my house and the new piano for the person I was buying it from as well. I called on a Monday, requesting a Friday appointment.
It is unfortunate that we were not able to respond to your piano needs in a timely fashion due to emergency that came up that was out of our control. We have been servicing the Portland area for 25 years and have many happy customers that recommend us and return to us for their piano needs.
Lotof was great to work with over the phone, but I’ve had continuous issues with my Model B. When it arrived, there were new marks/stains inside the piano body which had never been there before (one of them looks round, as if a bottle/container had been set inside like a water mark), and there was also a replacement string which had never been mentioned to me. The string is not the same type as the rest of the strings, and therefore, sounds audibly different. I will have to get it replaced.
Hi Macjenzie, I'm very sorry for your unfortunate experience with our company, I hope you will give us the chance to take care of you in the future and have you experience our great service that we have been providing since 1995 and enjoying great customer's support.
This review is for the piano moving aspect of Michelle's Piano -- the rest of their service may be stellar, I don't know. I bought a piano and arranged to have it moved. When moving day came, no one called me, and no one called the person where it was being picked up. When I called for status, it took more than an hour for someone to call me back. By this time, we were more than an hour past the pickup window. Apparently, the crew came down with COVID-19, so all deliveries had to be postponed.
"We are very sorry to hear you had this negative experience with us. Our moving customers have all been very happy with our service which is reflected by a majority of our reviews here.
My only experience has been that I have gone into there location to set up an appointment to have our grand piano tuned and appraised. One time was in November, I never heard from them to set up any type of appointment. The next time was the very first of January 2018, I have yet to hear from them to set up an appointment, going elsewhere. Both times they could not set it up an appointment then, but took my phone number and said they would be getting in contact with me.
Friday my husband and I checked their website and it stated were open...then when we walked inside we were rudely told to leave...were NOT OPEN...blah blah, yada yada...just treated us very nasty. We were there to spend upwards $75,000. But no way will we ever do business w such nasty unfriendly people... A long haired guy in the back telling us to leave and I misread their website...huh?. Have screen shot provides proof!
Hi Zelda, I want to offer my deep apology for your recent experience with our company. Our store has been closed due to COVID-19 and we have been responding to our customers who call and schedule private appointments to meet with them, we will change the message on our website to make that more…
I have had good experiences with Michelle's for tuning and moving in the past. However, I recently had them lined up to move my piano a few days before my house closed, and they backed out on short notice.

In their own words
I very highly recommend them for piano movers. They just came out to my place today to move my piano from where it was stored to my house for me. They were on time, professional and super nice. They had it carefully moved and set up in my house fairly quickly. I will recommend them to anyone and will definitely use them for any piano needs in the future. Very impressed! Thank you!
My wife Mary has played the piano for many years - and we were looking for a baby grand piano for our home. After an online search, we visited Michelle's Piano Company, and met Lotof Shahtout, the owner. The showroom is a piano lover's paradise, filled with an incredible assortment of types and colors and sizes. Lotof is so kind, knowledgeable, patient, low-pressure, and a lover of the magnificent instrument with 88 keys. In our perusing, he led us to a perfect fit for Mary: a K.
Hi Lynn and Larsen, it was great meeting you and thank you for giving us the opportunity to help you find the piano that fits your taste budget and life style. We appreciate your business and thank you for taking the time to post this review. Don't hesitate to contact us should you need any help.
I am pleased to write a recommendation for Lotof Shatout and Michelle's Piano. Recently I purchased a Boesendorfer Model 185 piano from Lotof. I am extremely satisfied with the outstanding performance and quality of the piano and the excellent professionalism and customer care, courtesy, and concern shown by Lotof. He was very dedicated, over a five month period, to finding me the absolutely best Boesendorfer available that met my financial target - and at an unbelievably fair price and unparalleled value.
We are so please to write a review for Michelle's Piano and the owner Lotof. Recently we purchased a very high end European piano from Lotof and are 100% satisfied with not only the high performance and quality of the piano but also the excellent services provided by Lotof and the staff of Michelle's Piano. Lotof has been very patient and spent the time to educate us on the differences of each of our potential buying choices of the pianos we would like to have, without giving us any pressure at all.
