Moves For Less of Indianapolis

This company was AWFUL. My movers were higher than kites and came in smelling like it. For a background I live in a 2 bedroom apartment. My original estimate was $550-620 for 3 hours of labor. I ended up getting charged $700, and got stuff left at my pickup location. When I rented it I explained I had two stops and needed a large truck. They came with a small box truck and arrived late(charged me for that time).

First time was great second time was horrible not professional I’ll take better chances doing it myself. Wasted 500 because the movers didn’t do the job right called several times explaining plus sent pictures if you wanna waste your money they’re the people you want. They refuse to call me back after explaining it and known my bed didn’t get put up right. I hate I even used this company lesson learned.

Two stars because the move was done and the few damages to my furniture are not worth the hassle of a claim. My real issue is despite every claim on the website the pricing is anything but transparent and straight forward. I was surprised the day of my move with more than $100 in additional fees which were not originally quoted to me. When I asked the reason for the surprise fees I was told by the movers that I was actually being charged for gas and that my hallway was too long so "that's basically another story".

I simply cannot believe they sent me both an email AND a text asking me to review them. I wasn't going to, but since they insisted, here I go. I originally went with them because I appreciated how hard they worked to get my business after I listed my home for saled. So I booked a local move for a Sunday on their website three weeks prior to the date I needed. I paid my deposit, and then rented a storage unit since I now had a truck scheduled.

I didn’t like the guys who moved me. Let me be clear. There were two guys who moved me a little one and big one. They both seem sneaky but the bigger one has a little more compassion than the other. He offered to load things I needed to dump into the dumper while the little guy was shaking his head no saying they have a junk removal service. I guess trying to get more money from me. I felt rushed when I had an extra 15 minutes at the end I didn’t know about until he was checking me out.

I wish I could leave a “0” rating. David is a combative, contentious and miserable soulless man. Moves for less uses deceptive and dishonest quoting/pricing tactics. Communication was ambiguous and unprofessional and caused me great distress. There were inadequate packing materials and many of my items were not wrapped correctly. I believe every piece of furniture moved was scuffed, scarred or damaged in some way.

My experience in dealing with Moves for Less Indy has been very unfortunate. From day one of agreeing to move forward with them we have had nothing but frustration and disappointment. There are 3 key issues with this company to be aware of. 1. They don't necessarily mislead you but definitely will not review the details required for you to understand what you are signing up for. 2.

The actual moving crew that came to our home was fantastic—hardworking, professional, and incredibly efficient. They handled our belongings with care and made the physical part of the move go smoothly. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the company’s field manager and representative. Communication was poor and unprofessional from the start. We were given incorrect information about pricing, scheduling, and what to expect the day of the move.
