Planes Moving & Storage of Indianapolis

My move was interstate and included two separate destinations (a condo unit and storage). As I anticipated, I paid a lot of money for the move. My early experiences with Planes sales was good; my sales guy was very professional. But the movers were pretty bad. They were nice people, but nice doesn't get your things where they are supposed to be. All our efforts to differentiate things that were supposed to go to our new residence from things that were supposed to go to our storage unit were a waste.

Their claims process is a joke. We paid extra for mirrors to be moved. The mirror for our grand daughter's bedroom was broken in transit. There were several items broken in transit. We took pictures of the broken mirror still in their packing and had it repaired so we didn't have broken shards of glass around. They refused to pay the repair because they didn't get to inspect it. They did not deliver 2 boxes and refused any compensation. The people who delivered to us attempted to deliver a leather couch. Not ours.

They will quote you a reasonable price to pack and move. They will then send an inexperienced and incompetent crew that will cause the move to take 5 hours longer than quoted. You will be charged 50% more than you were quoted, and you will have to deal with damage to your home.

I am writing to share my extremely disappointing experience with Planes Moving & Storage. Our move from Portland to Miami, which was supposed to be a straightforward process, turned into a stressful and costly ordeal. The issues began with the pickup on July 10th. The movers were scheduled to arrive between 8-10 AM, but they showed up late in the afternoon. To make matters worse, they arrived with a truck already filled with other customers' items and told us they would need to come back the next day.

We had Planes move us out of one location and store our belongings while we waited on our new house to be completed. When Planes arrived at the new location, we found various items that had been damaged during storage. It was apparent that the items had been stacked in such a way that damage was the result, with one clear example being the clothes dryer, which had the legs totally crushed under the weight of whatever was stacked on top of it.

Planes Moving and Storage completely destroyed our refrigerator and as of today have only paid $120 to have it repaired. Apparently because I chose the basic insurance which is $.60 a pound, they feel they can just completely destroyed things and pay just $120 for a 300lb item. On August 20,2022 the movers were moving the refrigerator out of our old house. They did not wrap it or protect it in anyway. It took the more than 30 minutes to get the refrigerator out the door.

I cannot speak of local moving but if you plan on moving out-of-state do NOT use this company. Canon Patschke and Travis Mason were completely and utterly useless. Our stuff arrived late, my wife's dresser was broken, and our stuff was clearly packed-repacked a number of times. This is a company who has one team toss your stuff in a small truck, then unpacks the truck into a warehouse, then finds someone else to drive it from the warehouse to your destination.

I used this company to move from the U.S. to another country in late 2024. We heard from a friend that UniGroup is a good company to use, and since they partner with Planes Moving & Storage, Planes handled the U.S. side of our move. The salesperson was very helpful and efficient in responding to our questions, which is why we decided to go with this company. However, I was not happy with our assigned coordinator, Jennifer. She was not responsive enough and was not friendly.
