Look elsewhere.....I moved from IL to WI 11/18. I had all of my possessions packed, organized and clearly labeled on all 4 sides of the box. While the movers were removing my possessions they took a lot of smoke breaks...right at my open door or near the truck. I asked more than once for them to not smoke around my home and possessions. The same crew returned to unload; however they added a female that had ‘bad legs and a bad back’ per her own statement to the crew.
Botched my moving date for a new job. Confirmed date with them weeks ago and never received any follow-ups. When I follow up with them, they tell me they never confirmed anything (despite an email from them specifically listing my target date for a move and confirming with them over a call when they surveyed my house for what will be moved). VERY unprofessional and entirely UNresponsive. Only used them because my employer required it. Otherwise, would NEVER choose them willingly.
Some of my items are missing and broken. I feel I was overcharged because some of my items had 4 to 5 stickers on them and I think that was how I was charged by the number of stickers.
Horrible experience. Moved 8 hours away and they STILL haven’t delivered my stuff or let me know when it will be here . It’s been 16 days . No response from anyone.
Moved from Ar to Wi as part of a relocation package the relocation company used Nelson Westerberg/Atlas Van Lines to preform the move it was absolutely the worst move I’ve ever seen, from the packers using our clothing for packing materials to stuff just randomly thrown in boxes with no packing. The Unpackers did a good job but the truck driver “Burt” spent more time in his truck talking on the phone than supervising his crew.
Just recently used them, the crew they sent out to pack my belongings was absolutely atrocious. They used all giant wardrobe boxes and piled as much stuff as they could into them. Completely ruining so many of my items. Clothing ripped, items broken, glass items not even wrapped, kitchen items packed with bathroom items and clothing items all in one box. They packed all my brand new pillows with dirty filthy shoes on top of them.
if you are moving but your final destination will be a temporary storage (not a place that is ready to move in yet), do not choose them as your mover!!!! we moved in year 2019 with Nelson Westerberg, at that time we had an apartment ready to move in. when we arrived everything was well packed and moved properly. nothing was damaged. so this time we choose them again as our cross country moving company.
Driver and team initially refused to wear masks until I explained we had children with significant health concerns. Even then, driver and team did not wear masks when inside our home. Damaged a few of our boxes (crushed) and refused to be accountable for them, saying it was our liability because we packed them. Sales staff explicitly told us that crush damage was covered, but driver refused to sign off on the damage.

I recently used Nelson Westerberg Headquarters to move all of my belongings from New York to Ohio, and I honestly couldn't be more impressed. What really blew me away was that they completed the entire move in just ONE day. I was expecting this to take much longer given the distance, but they made it look easy. I have to give a special shoutout to my mover Sal, he was extremely professional and efficient throughout the entire process.
I recently had to move across the country from Boston to San Diego for work and Nelson Westerberg was phenomenal to work with. Tami Harrison coordinated our move and was extremely responsive and made sure to check and make sure everything was going according to plans. The move itself was seamless, movers were very nice and spent one day packing all of our stuff and the next day loading it into the truck. Everything arrived in San Diego a couple of weeks later and the movers on the back end were also great.
I had the best moving experience ever with Nelson Westerberg! The coordination of services was amazing. Tiffany Raphel, the National Account Move Coordinator, was incredibly responsive and helpful in scheduling everything. She even went above and beyond to make sure that my move went smoothly. The day of the move, Dennis “Denny” Lewis and his crew of professionals arrived on time and were very efficient.
My family moved from the Tampa Bay Area to Minnesota in March, 2025 and we feel blessed to have chosen the team at Nelson Westerberg for our move. From the first phone call with Michael Hartung to get things rolling, to contact throughout the move (and after!) with Gracie Reineking, move coordinator, to Bob Messman our driver- the entirety of our interaction was nothing short of exemplary.
