NYC Great Movers

Update September: still nothing. Tried to call them and nobody reach back. Update 07 July: I sent two emails and left a voice mail and nobody ever responded. Our move was estimated at 4 hours with one stop, but ended up taking 7.5 hours due to multiple issues, poor communication, and unprofessional behavior. The problems began when the movers struggled unexpectedly to disassemble our sofa, causing delays.

THE INSURANCE COVERAGE IS A SCAM: We had a an LG OLED tv that we noticed was damaged after delivery. When I reached out to the company, they directed me to file my claim with their "third party neutral claims department". After going through the process, the claims department provided me with a settlement letter that stated in part, "Our investigation into this matter was based on information that you provided and a review of the contractual limitations of liability.

I’ve used great movers for various moves since 2012 with great satisfaction. I have recommended them to friends for the quality service. Last week, I used Great Movers for a move. First, there was poor communication with the foreman. My partner was with them, and had my partners contact information, yet kept calling me. More importantly, and most upsetting, the movers did not assemble a bed frame completely. They left slats, supports and screws in the corner of another bedroom and left!

Based off a recommendation from a friend who had a positive experience, I used Great Movers. The workers who were sent over introduced themselves, then informed me that they needed a "good tip" to work hard. They did not wrap any of my furniture as agreed upon in our contract. They also stood on top of my couch, while trying to maneuver other pieces in the truck. For me though, the worst of it was when they attempted a K turn in a very hilly neighborhood, after driving past my house.

Great....until there's a problem, then no support. I've used this company 3 or 4 times, never had a problem unless this last time. In general, the movers are great, but this time they left a pretty serious gash in the floor. I noticed it when I went back to clean up the following day. I took pictures and called. They referred me to the people who did the moving, who of course denied that they did it (though who else could have?). So I went back to the company. They told me to call the insurance agency o the COI.

My experience was a very bad one. Initially it seemed very easy. They were very fast taking the things to the storage but when they actually moved my things from the storage to the new apartment, they had to take one of the items back to storage. They initially told it was still within the time limit but them turned out we had to pay $200 extra. I learned about it after they closed the storage and I didn’t have a chance to tell them to unwrap the thing to tale photos for selling.

This company is a total scam. They are NOT customer oriented at all. They could not provide a pick up window upon signing of the contract and when they did it was a 4 hour window in the evening. They were two hours late with zero communication and we couldn't get through to them on the phone. When I booked the service and gave them my inventory list I told them about everything that was marble and glass and would need wrapping and Jerry Jones assured me it would be included in my estimate.

Beware of NYC Great Movers I cannot recommend NYC Great Movers and want to warn others to exercise caution. My experience with them has been far from satisfactory, and their insurance policy is inadequate. Here’s my story: I hired NYC Great Movers on January 30, 2024, to move my belongings just 20 minutes between cities. Upon arrival, the driver accidentally hit my new Tesla, which was parked outside.
