I have moved several times over the years with several local movers and I didn't have an awful experience but I've had better experiences. My quote was off based on timing and I feel like it came down to time spent trying to maneuver furniture that should have been broken down to begin with. I also felt pressured at the end to leave a 5-star review in front of the movers in which I had to politely decline twice in which I said I would review later (the boss told them it was a competition?).

From the first phone call to the final box unloaded, everything was handled with incredible professionalism and care. James was fantastic to work with upfront—he listened to all my concerns (I had a lot of heavy furniture, fragile antiques, and a tight timeline), gave me a clear, no-hidden-fees quote, and even suggested smart packing tips…
Our experience with Oak City was outstanding from beginning to end. We were fortunate to have Denzel, Jazz, and Troy handle our move, and they exceeded our expectations in every way. They arrived ready to work, stayed organized throughout the entire process, and treated our belongings with exceptional care and respect. What stood out most was their professionalism and positive attitude. Even after a long day, they remained friendly, helpful, and attentive to every detail.
Denzel the team lead and his crew in both Raleigh and Columbia SC for our out of state move were nothing short of fantastic!! Ive never seen a crew take such better care and caution with all of our stuff AND they were lightning fast too!! Their communication was on point and they couldn't have been nicer! They did an amazing amazing job!! If i had to pick a desert island moving company it would be oak city!! Choose them and them only please!!!!!!
The process from start to finish was very attentive and hands-on. I called to get a quote and learn about their process and standards. There were no pushy, sales-y vibes during the call, and no pushy follow-ups either. I decided the following week to make the reservation deposit. I called a few times with questions (will they mount the TV? do they transport framed art?), and if they didn't have an immediate answer for me, they always got back to me within the hour.
