PODS Moving & Storage

Our experience with the delivery of the POD from Don was filled with sarcasm, rudeness, condescension and an overall unhappy attitude and he made it very clear that he just wanted to be home. We asked and offered help during the delivery and even agreed to have the container placed where he felt it should go, not where we originally asked for it to go.

Moving from Boston to Tennessee (14 hour drive) but staying in SC for a month before we can move into our new house in TN. We scheduled our POD for dropoff well in advance and they never showed. I called customer service 4 times to figure out why the hell our POD just never arrived and although the customer service reps were all very kind and apologetic, nobody had any information. No call no show 3 days in a row.

My experience with PODS has been truly horrible. We paid a lot of money to have PODS deliver our belongings to our new house on October 28. Since I would be at the house alone, and not able to unload some of the heavier items myself, we flew a friend across the country to help me. However, apparently, 3 days before the POD was supposed to arrive, there was a problem and they knew that the POD would not arrive on time. But PODS did not communicate this to me. On the day of arrival, we got up early and waited.

My initial encounter to obtain a quote was quick and simple and was an easy choice as the price was approximately 50% of a full service moving company. The next steps of having empty pods delivered to my old home (Rhode Island for reference) was also a positive experience as the driver was exceptionally professional and skilled. Our delivery drivers at our destination (Northern Georgia for reference) were also exceptionally professional and skilled. This is where the positives ended.

One of the WORST business experiences I've ever had to deal with. (Background info: I rent and needed to have my items held at a warehouse before delivery to the new house.) I could write an essay on everything that happened but to keep it relatively short, I scheduled my pickup / drop off dates nearly a month in advance and NONE of what I initially scheduled was followed through on. I had to call customer service about 6 times and had 2 different 1 hour long online chats.

Service was subpar at best. They arrived to our city service appointment an hour late, when we had movers waiting to help. The driver was unhelpful, asking us to figure out the hydraulic mechanism which given it’s a part of his truck, he should know how to use it. We will be very hesitant to use this service again. Edit / update Following a similar review below, I also emailed the team and have still not received a response, so I will post that here.

Mike was awesome for drop off. Our time after Mike though, not so much. They canceled our pick up date due to low staffing. Moved it 2 days, then told us in the very SAME space Mike dropped it off, there was not enough space to pick it up. The guy arrived 15 min after the window.. which was now past 5pm so no one was available any longer in our leasing office to help make space.

UPDATED REVIEW August 2025: While trying to have my first filled pod delivered to my new address, they rescheduled the drop-off date on me again. The next day, they dropped it off two hours past the window given. I had built in a buffer of three extra days due to the previous experience so it was okay. They were supposed to pick up the pod today, and its an hour past the pick-up window and I haven't received any calls or updates and the website is down.
