Rent a Son Moving & Storage

I never write reviews but I had no choice in this case. My items were stored with Rent-a-Son in Toronto from Sept 2022-June 2023. A separate company facilitated the move itself. Yelled at me TO STOP GIVING HIM ATTITUDE. They were wrong and hired by somebody in my condo. This is over them blocking my street level parking spot that I own - hubby's due to come home with the car soon. They might be nice to YOU and RUDE to your neighbours. This is what I wrote to them: Your moving company that was hired by SOMEBODY ELSE in the building chose to block the parking spots owned by units 116 and 118.

One mover spent the entire move out of my apartment outside smoking, leaving the other to do all the work so that it ended up taking 3 hours to move out when it took another (much more professional moving company) 1 hour to move in. They were then 3 hours late to the move site. The company charged me for boxes I returned and which they will be using for another individual's move and when I refuted the charge on the invoice, they charged my credit card that same day and never responded to my email.

Movers showed up without any shoe coverings, dragging the snow in from outside. When I contacted their dispatch, they said they carry sneakers in each truck- but the actual movers didn't have any. They showed up without any moving boxes- they said that they didn't have it in their "inventory". Then they overcharged us by an extra hour- which was mainly due to their own disorganization. We went with them as a "no headache" option- but it was not so. I wouldn't recommend.

AVOID RENT-A-SON! I hired them to pack a U-Haul to save time and stress, but that decision ended up adding more time and more stress to our move. After a few hours into the drive, we checked on the U-Haul contents and realized that the several items were already broken (pictures attached). We ended up re-organizing the U-Haul at that first stop, which took over 3 hours, and found that some items were completely broken, including the dresser, coffee table, shoe rack, and many other items were scratched and damaged.

Scheduling the move was a good experience. However, ran into issues on the day of the move, that I tried to address with Rent a Son, only to be ignored. I had a minimal amount of items to move (bed, dresser, bookcase, couch, TV stand, desk, small table, microwave, clock, a dozen medium and small boxes). The young men who arrived from Rent a Son were pleasant enough, but were in no rush to get the job done.

I am getting calls/voice mails and text messages for people claiming to be from Rent-A-Son to arrange my scheduled move I had booked. I have tried to call the Rent-A-Son number from this listing and the calls are not answered. There is something not right here be careful. The reviews are too much the same.———this is reply to the reply from Rent-A-Son. I never called or contacted Rent-A-Son; I have calls/voice mail & texts saying I did and they had a move date. You have given me a number to call but no contact name.

Very disappointed. The movers were careless which resulted in a number of items being damaged. The movers showed up late and took much longer than the time estimated. A number of freshly painted walls (the movers were aware the house had just been painted) were left with scratches in the paint and gouges in the walls.
