In their own words
Unfortunately I am compelled to leave a public review due to the unwillingness of this company to speak with me regarding their destruction of our furniture. We had a pleasant experience with the staff and crew during our move, but when the items came back to us after being put in storage by The Movers, many were totally destroyed. We hired this company to wrap/protect our large furniture, lamps and pictures to be placed in storage, but they either didn’t wrap the items or wrapped them haphazardly.
We’re sorry to hear that you were disappointed with how some of your belongings came out of storage. We do, however, want to clarify a few important details that were not included in the review.
I used this company to move me from the Kansas City KS area to the southwest MO area and it was a horrible experience. Many of my items never made it. I don't know if they didn't load everthing at the originating location or didn't unload them at the destination location. Either way some of my stuff disappeared. Also, my desk was damaged beyond repair and I was told they were not responsible for the damage because it was not "real" wood.
We’re sorry to hear you feel this way, but we do want to clarify some important facts for accuracy. All items were delivered. Our crew unloaded everything from the truck, and no items were left behind. The claim that belongings “never made it” is not true.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! I believe they purposely under bid jobs to get the business. I was given what felt like a good deal but it wasn’t so low of a price that I was questioning it. They said 7 hours, one truck and 4 guys. They showed up with a U-haul! That was the first thing that seemed off…The first question from the movers was “are you taking all of this?” I mean really! Yes I’m moving and would like to take it all!

Edit: we paid The Movers a total of $3,970.45 and not a dime was ever refunded to us for any of the damages they've done. A claims form was filed and the employee smoking pot in our home was reported to them within days. The Movers response below is a LIE. This would be a negative star review if I had that option. We had a terrible experience with this company and would not recommend them to anyone. They put a hole in the wall at our newly-built home.
Response to edit: We understand you’ve mentioned that a claims form was submitted and that the conduct of one of our employees was reported. We take these matters seriously and want to clarify that, to our knowledge and records, we did not receive a completed claims form regarding the damaged…
Several broken items: Entry table, 65" TV (Destroyed! After paying for TV Boxes.) King size bed ruined. Glass top on end table broken. Took my 6 foot step ladder with them. All this after we fed them pizza, soft drinks, meat and cheese trays! We are filing a claim with them, but do not have high hopes of receiving anything! I would not recommend these guys to move squat! Very bad experience. Note: after paying them to move us, we have further shelled out money for new t.v.
Late review. Overall experience was not good. Ease of scheduling was good and staff was prompt in scheduling the date for the move. However, there was lack of communication between the person who scheduled our move, contract, and the crew. Crew was nice, however, they did not carry any blankets to wrap around wooden furniture. I went to U haul that day and quickly purchased wrapping blankets. Also, in my contract they charged me for mattress covers but the crew did not bring any mattress covers.
I apologize for the inconvenience that you experienced on your move. I cannot think of any reason why there would not be any moving blankets on the truck. We have all the necessary moving equipment on our trucks on every job.
Be very careful with this company. Our sales person sent us a quote to sign and didn’t explain the whole contract and it ended up costing us hundreds in damages due to their deposit requirement for damages and didn’t disclose it. Then we changed our service a few days prior and a new estimate or contract wasn’t sent to us so we had to argue with the insurance.
We had a terrible experience with this moving company. We do not recommend them, at all. 1. The estimate we were given was a scam. The manager told us we would be fine with 4 men for 4 hours. The move took DOUBLE that time, and we were charged by the hour. 2. The quote included disassembly and assembly at the new house, but most of our things were left in pieces and not put back together. The few things that were put back together were done totally wrong, so we ended up having to take them apart again ourselves.

My experience with the moving company called The Movers was excellent. They were very punctual with their estimate and communication with staff was excellent as well. On moving day, the crew showed up as promised and worked feverishly and had our entire house loaded in six hours. They were very cautious with all of our possessions. The entire crew treated our possessions as if they were their own possessions. We were asked for date and time for the unload in our Arizona home.

My original appointment window was 9–10 AM, but the movers didn’t arrive until around 11:30 AM. Fortunately, I had the whole day open, so the delay didn’t bother me. Once a team was assigned, Oscar gave me a courtesy call with their ETA. When he and Darnell arrived, they got straight to work! I walked them through what needed to be moved and how everything was organized. They quickly loaded everything, then we headed to the new place—just seconds away—and began unloading.
Hired the Movers because they were local and told us our long distance move would be done with the same crew from start to finish and wouldn't be in a shared load like the 'big guys'. It was partly true. Our stuff was not bundled with other moves. We had the same driver, Michael Castillo, who was great! Super nice, hard worker, and able to adapt when life threw him a loop (blown tire and wheel damage). He was communicative and busted his butt. I could see he cared about our move.
PLEASE READ, THE MOVERS ARE THE BEST. HIRE THEM IF MOVING!! Never used any movers before. I found The Movers through Google search, they were the first company out of many that I contacted. I found that The Movers were the only company that was straightforward with their pricing, explained everything and will not hide anything! Talked with David during the whole process. He did not pressure me, he told me to compare with other companies and to go with my gut.
