Trans Van Lines

DO NOT USE these movers. My mother relocated from the Midwest to the West Coast. She is a single woman in her 60's. This company completely took advantage of her and is an untrustworthy business. Every part of the company is disconnected. The person who gives you a quote is not the same person who dispatches the movers. They do not honor the quote that they give to you. The men who show up on the day of your move -- a very stressful time -- will bully you into accepting higher rates.

Lied to about pricing, pickup date, and drop off date. Still have not received my items despite the moving broker (which I was not made aware was a broker and not the actual company - even more added fees) guaranteeing me a drop off date. Emailed trans van lines asking for a couple day notice for a new drop off date as required by my city and received a very rude email back stating they will NOT be providing me notice.

Do not, under any circumstances, use this company! They are professional liars and they will hold your things hostage. I moved from Florida to Virginia with Trans Van Lines, the original quote I was given (after inputting all my things correctly into their calculator) was $2663. The company showed up, I walked the lead through the house and pointed out everything that needed to go. He said ok.

Horrible, irresponsible, unprofessional, moving company. sales person tried to convince that estimate will be close to actual moving fee. mover came late at night and asked the double of estimate. they took advantage of situation of moving. Opening the boxes at new house, all the glasses are broken and furnitures were damages, my suites and dressed were packed ... called claim but never returned yet. I reported BBB and consumer protection department.

So here's how it works. When you talk to their booking agent, you express concern whether their truck will fit in your complex, and they assure you that they have reviewed google maps and there should be no issues at all. You then ask what pick up date allows for your belongings to be delivered by September 6th, and they tell you August 20th will make that happen.

The only reason this is 2 stars is the all my belongings finally arrived. I began to have my doubts. My first encounter with the sales person, after trying very hard to give a good estimate of my belongings, seemed way too low for a cross country move, Florida to California. I worried about it, and finally got my final box count, which raised the price some but still not much.

I feel very let down with this service... To start with I must commend the sales staff for their ability to eloquently package and offer customer service. Unfortunately, the service stops at the moment of pick-up. From misquoting me by more than 50% of what the driver picking my items up “determined” was the value that I owed to over $350 worth of upcharges for stairs, even though I very clearly stated the number of flights the movers must carry my items at time of pickup.

My experience with this company was very bad. The first thing they did was charge me $1200 more than what my things were supposed to cost. I paid because I had no other solution when they left my things here. My TV arrived broken and useless, and I lost $1000 that I had already paid for. When I called the company, they made a huge fuss about me, and in the end, they didn't pay for my TV. Plus, I had a shelf that never arrived, and when I complained, it never showed up.
