In their own words
I honestly wish I could give this company zero stars. The entire experience was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. They damaged our walls and furniture, lost parts, and left a bunch of items unassembled even though they promised to handle everything. Then, when it came time to pay, they suddenly jacked up the final price, demanding much more than the original quote.
Scam! The worst experience! The movers broke several pieces of furniture and were trying to glue the broken legs with crazy glue! One piece was put to the curb it was so damaged! I had $300 stolen from my bag, and I was missing an entire coffee table. When I called the company, they accused me of lying. Also I was given a quote, and in the middle of the move before my entire house was unloaded, they said I owed $700 more after the bank was closed so I had to go borrow money since you can’t take that much out of an…
Would leave 0 stars if I could. We were quoted that the movers would arrive between 8:30am-10:30am; they arrived at 12:30pm. The original quote was $697.50 and they charged us $1960.00 instead stating that we used more cubic feet than they had estimated. They left damage on the walls of the apartment we moved out of and considerable damage to my piano. When I emailed the person who helped me book the appointment I got no response, I even sent her photos of the damage.
Actually 0 stars. BEWARE. This is the WORST Company ever. They lie strate to your face. They charged triple what was quoted on paper after loading the truck they said WE used too much space in the truck. THEY did the estimate and being so called professionals should have realized how much room it would take on the truck. Once it was loaded they charged triple and threatened not to give our stuff back or come to their warehouse and pick it all up. This all while closing on 2 homes at the same time.
I am going to warn anyone NOT to use Tri-State Area Movers. This company is a scam. Unprofessional, Unethical, Immoral. I was quoted $700-$825 yet my total cost was going to come out to $1,500+ What an absolute joke. I understand my quote was a minimum but in what world is it professionally acceptable that the minimum is over 2x less than the actual price. I am a student, I do not have the financial flexibility to just spend and extra $800 dollars unexpectedly like that.
DO NOT USE!!!!! I am writing this so other consumers will not be scammed as I was. My move with Tri State Area Moving and Storage Corp was by far the worst experiance I have ever had. I have been trying for weeks to recoup financial remediation for improper charges and unresolved property damage. Prior to the move, a representative named Ken conducted an in-person walkthrough of my home and provided a detailed estimate to move my household for just under $3,800.
I’ve never experienced such an unprofessional moving company. The crew constantly complained about having another job before ours, dragged their feet, and argued every step of the way. They forgot and left behind items that were clearly listed in the contract, acted annoyed when reminded, and damaged multiple pieces of furniture. Their attitude was careless, disrespectful, and downright frustrating.
Worst moving company ever Charged me more than 2x the estimated quote at time of moving claiming I added more stuff to the move it was one table 8 more chairs and maybe a few additional boxes and then told me they would take everything offf the truck if I didn’t pay They then put everything in storage and lost my king soze mattress, snowblower, 50” tv, insert to my electric fireplace entertainment center and various other things They have been unresponsive and are acting like nothing went missing not returning…
