Two Men and a Truck Moving

We twice asked TMAAT if its truck could fit all our movables. TMAAT twice said yes. Then, to make extra sure, we had TMAAT come to our house and inventory our items, itself. TMAAT did so and again assured us that its truck could fit the inventory which TMAAT, itself, compiled. Then came moving day, and TMAAT couldn't fit all our items in its truck.

I paid Two Men and a Truck $3,100 to move my studio apartment in boxes to the West Coast, and they completely botched the job. This location is run by a belligerent and lazy man named Andrew O’Melia, who scheduled me for a “crate move,” where a third-party shipping company picks up your items from their warehouse. I mistakenly trusted his office to handle this. They waited until the last minute to send me the additional paperwork required to move my belongings beyond Baltimore.

Honestly, one of the worst experiences I have had with a contractor in general, especially a moving company. I manage several properties in the Baltimore area, and I know a handful of landlord's whom have used this company before, going forward, I will be telling them of my experience and I would never recommend this company to any of my fellow colleagues. Two weeks prior to the scheduled move, they quotes me a number.

I have used Two Men and a Truck previously with a great experience, but that was not the same for my most recent move. Our movers, Alpha and Tyree, were awesome, they were very kind and super efficient with the actual moving of furniture. However, they did not tell me they were stopping for food on the drive to my new house, and they went to the wrong address, adding time to a time-based service.

I used Two Men and a Truck about nine months ago and had such a great experience that I didn't hesitate to hire them again for my recent move. Unfortunately, this experience was completely different. I was moving essentially the same furniture and household items as I did during my last move. The first move was completed by a crew of only three movers, cost less than $1,000, and went smoothly.

The movers were kind and attentive. The reason for the two star rating is due to the quote and the actual price being completely off. The expectation is that I would have stopped the movers at the time quoted (4.5 hours) and paid the invoice. This definitely didn't come to mind because there wasn't much accomplished at the 4 hour mark. I have a 3 bedroom home with two living rooms and a dining room. The movers were hired to move furniture pieces only. There was no packing.

I have used two men and a truck before and had great experiences but I had a truly terrible experience with the Baltimore company last week. They have completely ignored the problems, refused to help solve the problems they created, and not communicated when they said they would. I am incredibly disappointed. To start, they were supposed to pack our house and move to the new house a few miles away. They left the original house a disaster! Boxes I had packed were dumped out and left spilled on the ground.

I’m over a year late to this review, but I recently had the best moving experience of my life, and it reminded me of the abhorrent service experience that is Two Men and a Truck. I used this sorry excuse of a business to move from the west coast to the Baltimore area. Well, if you think them being a national organization means you’ll get streamlined service, communication, and cooperation, think again.
