Undergrads Moving | Movers Charleston SC

Horrible experience with this moving company. Not only was the moving service bad (hardly existent), but when calling customer support I have been told twice that management will be reaching back out with this never coming to fruition. We hired two movers to move a two bedroom out of a truck. The movers that were sent to us hardly moved anything, instead myself and my roommate were doing the majority of the work (I moved the couch into our apartment).

So let me start off by saying I went with Undergrads Moving based on the many glowing 5 star reviews. Those in office, in charge of scheduling, ect were great. However my move experience was not great, and ended with damaged items. One of the two movers was almost 40 minutes late. Nobody called me to notify me. Only after I called Undergrads, after waiting for 30 minutes, was I told that he didn't realize the job was so far away and didn't leave with enough time.

The customer service is great. However, you're better off hiring a full service moving company for personal moves. It will cost you the same in the end. $65 an hour per person, with a 2 hour minimum. You're already on the hook for $300 (w/tip). no truck, no tools, just some college kids getting paid $14 an hour. By the time you're all in with helping them load and unload, plus the rental truck, your time, it would cost the same, if not less.

Undergrads Moving was able to accommodate my moving date with just a few days notice however this is by far the worst experience I have had with a moving company. After the two guys completed the move of my things into a storage unit, I noticed that my 65 inch LG tv less than a year old was completey shattered and the corner screen had been pulled up and away from the frame of the tv as well. The TV was laid on its side and covered with a blanket in the unit and hidden from me.

The guys were quick to move our things but packed horribly. We have a small two bedroom townhouse and they packed the back of the moving truck so horribly we had to repack things ourselves. They left tons of dead space and weren’t careful with our things. At one point they were throwing pillows down the stairwell into the front yard. They were also complaining about moving things in front of us, which I found really unprofessional. They didn’t seem to have much of a system for packing the truck.

DO NOT USE!!!! Undergrads moving dropped and damaged a $1,300 dresser and now refuses to pay. They say they are insured, but if/when they damage your belongings, they will not submit a claim to reimburse you for damage. They offered $300 for a $1,300 dresser that was destroyed. Buyer beware. Response to Owner: That is completely untrue.

Do not use Undergrads Moving, our movers had no idea what they were doing. We ended up moving a majority of our stuff ourselves, including large and heavy furniture, due to lack of initiative. They moved slowly and did not carry items to their full capacity, my roommate and I (as two small women) were carrying heavier boxes than they were. At one point, one of the movers could not be located for an extended period of time.

Absolutely the worst experience! Movers were scheduled to show up at 10. 1 guy showed up on time as scheduled. By 10:30 still no help. We were told no replacements were available so we ended up doing what we hired them to do and we were still charged. I picked this company due to all the great reviews. WARNING!!!! Don be fooled.
