In their own words
We had a very disappointing experience with University Moving and Storage. They significantly overcharged for a service that underperformed on nearly every level. The point of contact, Kelly, was unprofessional, impatient, and outright rude. She frequently changed our moving dates based on the availability of their subcontracted drivers, showing little regard for our time or planning.
University Moving performed our move across the country. We were happy with our driver. He was a career professional. The salesperson was also very responsive and helpful. As you may know, driver's are responsible for hiring local crews to assist with the day of move. The day of our move into our new home, someone in the local crew stole cash from inside Christmas cards and my kids wallets that I had stashed in my closet. All together it was over $1,500.
Awful experience. Price that was quoted ended up being 4K more. Damaged items that the moving company fought me on and would not reimburse. From sales to operations. Just say no, and choose another moving company.
Referred by friends, we had the worst experience and it is not our first move. The weight estimate was apparently far wrong which had for consequence to see an important price increase. They have left things behind and reject the responsibility on us. Promises made in writing to discount a portion of the price for boxing were never executed. This is the type of company that will keep some of your belongings hostage until they are satisfied as they are asking more than agreed to finalize things.
I truly wish I could give 5 stars, as I was hiring this company based on the many good reviews below. Unfortunately, I received the most unprofessional service from the start. I booked an in home estimate a week in advance, and was ensured my tech would be out and confirm the day before. The day of, I hadn’t heard anything from the tech so I reached out to the company. They ensured me I was still on the calendar.
Avoid this company at ALL COST, as they operate with misleading reviews. When I chose them, Robin came to my apartment for a thorough walk-through of what needed packing. Everything was documented, discussed via email, and confirmed, including any changes. On the moving day, university movers arrived with a semi-truck, which led to chaos. Not only did we get reprimanded by our management for having a semi-truck in our neighborhood, but the police were also called.
Bait and Switch, I had to last minute change from another moving company to this one. Robin told us that we were still under our "price lock guarantee" so we decided to switch to University Movers. Then once we switch the quote comes back 600 dollars higher, because of one week notice. We agreed to this price change because of the fact that our quote has our items arriving February 3, once again we agree to everything. THEN...we get ANOTHER email stating that they now have to deliver between February 3-16. WHAT!?!
In June of 2019 University Moving sent a one man crew to move a 4000 sq foot house. University moving provided me a quote knowing full well the size of the house and items, furniture and clothes inside. The move was in two parts. The first part went well and I awaited the second move date. I was shocked when a one man crew appeared with a small truck. I notified University Moving who insistent it was somehow my fault based on a previous 5 min conversation.

The same method, applied to the four and five star reviews. Most movers are praised for the same handful of things, so what is missing here is often as telling as what is present.

In their own words
The Team at University Moving & Storage was awesome! My office contact Susan B was really on top of communication, going over their policies with me and even calling day-of to make sure all was going well. She was flexible and understanding when I asked to move up my moving date due to Covid-19 worries. The company had their own measures to make sure everyone stayed safe and minimize interaction with the moving crew. The crew themselves - Tristin, Jarad, and Jacob - were great to work with!
Hard working, friendly, efficient, and kind. I am so happy we went with University Moving and Storage. These upstanding gentlemen interacted kindly to myself and my family in a manner well above and beyond expectations or necessity. Our job was finished well ahead of estimated time, and hundreds of dollars under budget. Our furniture and time were given the respect I would have given.
University Movers recently provided exceptional service for my parents local move. My parents home was predominantly filled with antiques that require extra care when being transported from one location to the next. Much of their furniture required extra attention while wrapping and moving due to their fragile nature and increased weight.
This was a little tricky. If I could, I've give my packing/loading crew 3/5 and the unloading crew 5/5 (hence the average 4/5). The loading crew seemed a bit disorganized in that they nearly forgot a few things and a few liquids that they had packed had spilled onto other things (no damage). Somehow, laundry detergent got on many (cloth) items, but I'm not sure what actually happened to my bottle of laundry detergent; it left my old place but didn't come to my new place.
