In their own words
My wife and I purchased a cute little piano on Craigslist, and hired West Coast Piano to move it from its old home in Hillboro to our rental home in Portland. Initially, the move went smoothly, and the guys moved the piano itself cleanly into our home (no mean feat considering our door situation). Unfortunately, one of the movers didn't take care with our finished wood floor.
Fellow pianists and musicians, STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY TL;DR: The company is unprofessional, causing damage to our piano and refusing to fix everything they broke. This isn't a hateful comment. I take full responsibility for all accusations. The movers flipped my Yamaha N2 Hybrid grand piano upside down without any protection, resulting in multiple deep scratches on the top and music stand during pick up.
If you value your instrument, stay as far away from West Coast Piano Movers as possible! What should have been an easy move of less than a mile and with no stairs or turns involved turned into a nightmare. One of the three movers let go of my piano and it fell 5'3" into a neighbor's yard, flipped and hit her house. Parts flew out. Human error does happen. I get that, but my beautiful Yamaha will never be the same. The follow up with the office staff and the manager was a terrible experience.
Worst, most stressful move of my life. The majority of my items were damaged and at times the movers had me moving my own items. Was also charged much more than the estimate. Movers weren’t prepared for the job and I offered to reschedule but they told me not to worry. I wish I trusted my instincts, cancelled and booked another company. I also wish I had seen at least one negative review because I assumed from all the positive reviews this bad of an experience wasn’t possible.
I used West Coast Moving a few years ago when I purchased my new piano and really appreciated the two men who delivered it. Naturally I wanted to use them again. A few weeks ago I hired them again to move my piano. Sadly this time it was a bad experience for both me and my piano which now has a chip on the side and bottom area, and there are scratches from the mover's jackets.
First off I want to say that the piano moving part of the company is great. The moved my piano from Arizona up here and I will always be grateful for that. I have great experiences with them and recommend them. However this review is really for the moving homes part of the company. At first I had them move me from my condo to an apt and storage unit while looking for a house. Then when I bought my house, they moved me and also when I sold the house.
NIGHTMARE OF A COMPANY TO DEAL WITH. Not only did they completely screw up the day of our move, failed to return phone calls and told us “their guys were stuck in Eugene and they didn’t know they wouldn’t show up” so this Company had to hire a competitor to come get our stuff hours in to the night. I was still at the hospital with our baby that was born and zero communication from them. Then we were told by the GM, Jason Washington, that they would cover the $200 fee for the inconvenience. This was back in June.
I'd say pass on this company. I have used them twice. They made a small mistake which they could have solved quite easily but instead chose to play games, not return phone calls and just be overall jerks. Jeremy and/or Jason do better.

In their own words
7/2022 - While most people won't move twice in a year, our circumstances required two cross state moves. We loved West Coast Moving and Storage the first time (see review below) and could not imagine they would be game to come out of state to come move us again. We bid with several local companies and were floored by the pricing and delay required to use a local outfit. Sheepishly, I rang Michelle to ask if they would come get us and move us again.
Moved from Portland, OR down to Southern CA with the help of West Coast Moving. A friend of mine had booked them to move their grand piano across town and were so impressed with them that she booked them to move the rest of her home items. They came highly recommended to me so I booked a consult on short notice and Jeromy arrived on even shorter notice and was so friendly and kind and responsive throughout our consult and with the follow up communication.
I've used West Coast Movers twice. The first time was just to move a piano (small Acrosonic, but still 400 lbs) up a narrow multi-flight staircase with tricky 180 degree turns. Not easy. And they did a fantastic job. Five stars all the way. Every lift, turn and slide was well planned and executed with care. It gave me complete confidence that the piano was safe and unstrained the entire time, which is why I chose to use them again when I moved out a few years later for all my stuff this time.
I don't write reviews hardly ever, but I definitely read them! This company deserves an outstanding review. Thank goodness for West Coast Moving and Storage. We have a piano from Steinway and Sons and needed to move it to our new house. Steinway and Sons in Lake Oswego highly recommended only two companies, and this was one of them. Jeromy came over and gave us a quote. The price to move our piano and everything else was surprisingly fair. He was professional and honest.
Thanks for for great review. Glad to hear the our movers exceeded your expectations. We appreciate your business.
