I’ve never left a one-star review before, but my experience was so awful that I feel compelled to share it. My move took place over a year ago, and it appears the company may now be under new management, but what happened still weighs on me. From the moment the crew arrived, the experience felt off. The team lead immediately began talking about tips, which was uncomfortable. They also did not have the proper equipment, and the crew did not seem physically prepared for the job.

Take your business elsewhere. These movers damaged several items of furniture, including an antique family heirloom, that I specifically asked be wrapped and handled with care. When I expressed concern about their rough handling and improper packing, my concerns were dismissed—and then those exact items arrived broken and chipped. After weeks of being given the runaround, I was offered a meager settlement that won’t begin to cover the cost of repair.

They used to be great but don’t book with them now!!! I was completely scammed. A move that would have taken 2 hours and cost under $500 cost me $850 and took 4 hours. I don’t even have a full 1 bedroom worth of furniture and less than 10 boxes and these guys were completely incompetent. It got to the point I started moving things myself. I was not made aware of several charges was told a higher rate than quoted and honestly wished I did it myself.

I hired Windy City to unload my truck for my move from Tulsa to Chicago. When I called for a quote, they assured me they worked the building I was moving into pretty often and were familiar with it, and that it should be no issue to unload my truck within the 2 hour minimum. They gave me a fair rate compared to other well-known names in the area, and I'd seen a lot of praise for them on reddit, so I booked with them. The only positive thing I can say about these guys is that they showed up on time.

[TLDR; movers STOLE over $4500 worth of jewelry] I never leave reviews, but have to share my experience to prevent future customers from ever having this happen to them: Do **NOT** use this moving company. My roommate scheduled Windy City Movers to move her out of our apartment on June 10, 2023. I was out of town and my bedroom door — which was across the hall from her room — was shut. Apartment was empty besides my roommate and 3 windy city employees.

The guys, leader of the crew, walked in the door talking tip. The most important thing, their tip. When they found we were moving to public storage, there was a glint in their eyes I did not recognize, I had many items I gave these guys, because they were no longer of use, to us, many tools, tool boxes, a 6 month old electric lawnmower with rechargeable battery, lawn hedger with 2 batteries, so much lawn equipment.

If I could give 0 stars I would. We were very pleased with the people on the phone we spoke with to coordinate the move - they were very professional and easy to work with. They quoted us for our 1 bedroom apartment move (about a half mile away) and we agreed with the quoted amount. However, the movers showed up and were not professional at all. They took over 5 hours to move a 1 bedroom apartment in elevator buildings with loading docks at both. Only one of the movers seemed to be doing anything.

They charged me almost a thousand dollars for a 5.5 hour move. All my items were already packed and even then, it took them over 2 hours to load the truck. They stopped for 20 minutes to have something to drink and they added that time to my bill. After 2 more hours, they finished unloading the truck at my new destination. When I called to quote, they said I didn't have to worry about packing chairs or furniture, but they didn't protect my sleeper sofa and scratches all the bottom.
