In their own words
We used this local franchise of the national company to store our belongings for a year while we were traveling. Upon our return, we attempted to contact them to schedule delivery to our new home. It took weeks to get anyone to return our calls or emails in order to schedule this delivery and when they did, they took several more weeks to get us a quote.
We used Zippy Shell twice. The first time was great, minus the fact that the driver ran the shell into our garage and dented the door and gutter. The second time has been a mess. The container was hours late at drop-off, then it sat in Miami for five days without our knowledge, then they took until the last possible minute to deliver to the destination facility, and now it will be more than a week before it can be delivered and unloaded. They offered the opportunity to rent a truck and unload it ourselves, though.
All I needed was clear communication for a cross country move. Nobody knew where the stuff was, nobody seemed to have any idea when it would arrive at the destination city. I was told it would be 10-14 business days and I've waited patiently beyond that to hear from them. Up until now I've called cust service multiple times and have gotten no clarity on where the stuff is or when I can try to schedule it to be unloaded. I discover today that it somehow hasn't even left they pickup city.
RUN.. don’t walk! This is the WORST service ever. Can’t trust them!!! We booked our long distance move ahead of time and paid for half of the move. Then the day of we get an email that they needed to reschedule and someone would reach out. NO ONE called us. When I called corporate they didn’t see a cancellation on the account and said someone is coming by 12 and to call back if they didn’t show. Of course no one shows! I called back and waited on hold for over an hour every time I called.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Do not use 1-800-Pack-Rat either (they recently merged). Stay away!! They sound like a great solution and will give you a decent price and estimate, but completely fail to live up to that. Their estimate was 7-10 business days. It has been a month (21 business days). They've charged the final payment, but are holding my belongings hostage. I would have zero information if I wasn't calling back weekly and now daily for updates. Every time I call it's a different problem.
It was hard to get a quote online. The rep that I spoke with was so rude I hung up. I was straightforward in dates, size and locations. We went with another company. Since then I have received so many calls and explained we went with another company. I have to answer my phone as we are in the process of selling and buying with many parties involved. I have marked many emails as spam. Seriously just start right and upfront and back off when a more professional company gets the job.
Like many others have already stated I would recommend staying well clear if this company! Initial communication was great and delivery of the container was on time even with our requested date change. Being in the military I need weight tickets empty and full for my move to be reimbursed for costs, it was like pulling teeth to get those as no representative knew how to get me the tickets that I was very expressive about needing.
Worst moving experience. • 1st I was expecting movers between 9 and 11 am on my moving day June 17th, 2020, 11 passes and I get a text about 11:10am stating that "Hello we hvae been delayed at as the Zippy Shell forklift has been notified to us that is not working. Currently waiting to hear back from Zippy Shell about how to proceed" I then get a call about 11:30 am stating that "We can't bring the container to you, but we can do a "loose load" I agreed, and they arrived and a truck more than 2xs the size of the…

Matt was great. He called ahead and confirmed the location. He seemed to already know some things about my neighborhood. He took some time to look at the parking area and discuss with me how best to position the pod. He was even careful not to damage the trees. Very friendly, conscientious guy and right on time too. Excellent service!

I called all the mobile storage pod companies and Zippy Shell had the best price. They were friendly, communicative and fast. They were able to deliver it two days after I called. They have a sister company called Pack Rat. Highly recommend. Shannon did a great job with pick up.

This summer we have had our fair share of complex moves and Tim is always there to help us find a solution; he is willing to work with us when we’re over budget, need a quick turnaround or have a particularly tough customer.
I had a fair experience with Zippy Shell, our rep was responsive and helpful. No hidden fees or charges, everything was fully disclosed upfront. The only part that was a little shady is how they handle delivery on a cross country move, you pay 1/2 cost when they pick it up, the second 1/2 once it arrives in its destination city. You get a confirm email that the payment was processed, but no phone call to schedule your delivery from their storage facility.
