Absolutely terrible experience with this moving company and I would strongly advise others to avoid them. I was quoted and repeatedly confirmed a flat-rate interstate move from Massachusetts to New York. On moving day, after the crew arrived and reviewed everything in person, I was suddenly told I needed to pay an additional $320 due to the amount of items and an elliptical machine. I agreed and paid the extra charge before the move proceeded. The movers were careless with my belongings throughout the move.

Absolute nightmare, communication was really poor. My move was delayed >2 days after booking 2 months in advance. I understand it is a busy time of year, but that is why I planned ahead and agreed to a $2800 long-distance move from NYC to Boston. The mover was coming from South Carolina where his truck broke down. I received a call a day earlier about pushing my move from 8AM to 1PM, I requested that they find alternatives but never got a call back.
We sincerely apologize for your experience and understand how frustrating these delays were. Unfortunately, the truck assigned to your move suffered an unexpected mechanical breakdown on its way to your pickup.
I felt the owner was very disrespectful even when answering my questions about the quote on phone. When I asked him why the quoted price was much higher than whatβs listed in the website. He thought I was not going to consider them due to the price and said β well if you think the price is high, go find othersβ and hanged up on me directly. Lack of patience and extremely rude. I left a review on thumbtack based on the quoting experience.
1. We have 3 hours minimum charge policy. 2. I did not hang up on you we just lost the connection because of the poor reception. 3. You didnβt use our service so you donβt have a right to review our service. 4.
My experience with Born to Move was extremely disappointing, not because of the move itself, but because of the company's communication and customer service. Before booking, I specifically asked in writing whether the quoted price included travel time from the company's facility to my storage unit and then to my apartment.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! EVER! CAN YOU PICK LESS THAN ONE STAR?! Firstly, the rates online are not real. They say customers complain and it's needs to be updated. NOW FOR THE CRAZY- I paid $300 for TRAVEL for what what supposed to be an in-town move! 1hr 45 min at $160/hr and it was supposed to be down the street. Filled out an online request form and got a call back to arrange. They NEVER said they would travel from Needham instead of their location right in my town!
HORRIBLE experience! I worked with the Boston office/branch. At first, on the moving day, the movers ignored my concerns about some of the boxes (as those had fragile items in them), and one of them βassured meβ saying that I didnβt have a lot of stuff to begin with and they have been doing this for a long time. Well, apparently not long enough! Because although the company charges for 3 hours minimum, the movers could not get out of there fast enough!
I used their moving service last summer, and unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. I would not recommend them based on two major issues: 1. Incorrect Truck Size: Despite moving a 3-bedroom house, they sent a truck that was far too small. The movers spent an extra 1.5 hours trying to fit and adjust our items. I even had to drop off several belongings at a friendβs house just to avoid paying for an additional trip.
We moved couple of miles from my earlier home to a new home. I had a surgery and could not do much packing and my wife was unable to do by herself. We gathered an estimate and hoped that we would be fine after reading the reviews. However, it was chaos. Our stuff was left behind, a few accidents (which does not matter, rest was "A okay") but overall the move was chaotic - a smaller truck came on the final day despite a IRL review of our home and goods . . .

We had an excellent experience with this moving team. They handled our 2-bedroom move from Boston to CT with professionalism, efficiency, and genuine care. From the moment they arrived, they were organized, respectful of our space, and clearly experienced. They worked steadily the entire time, carefully wrapping and protecting our Ikea furniture (lol), and navigating everything (including heavier pieces) without a single complaint.
When life gives you lemons, trust the pros! I had to move back home on very short notice, and felt it was imperative to select a moving company that was local. I am so glad I did! For an extremely reasonable price, Vlad and Constantine hauled ass and made a very stressful day as expedient as possible. My parents, friends, and I were all seriously impressed! Despite not moving very far, there is no way we could have done it alone.
My husband and I highly recommend this company. Alex is the owner of the LA location and he is absolutely wonderful and highly responsive. When we did our initial consultation, he didnβt nickel and dime me in any way. We simply did a FaceTime call where I showed him my apartment and he gave me a very fair price on the spot. On the day of the move he sent me five men who were so respectful and kind. They worked so efficiently and quickly that it made my head spin. It was as if they were from the military!
We moved from Long Island NY to Boston MA In March with the help of βBorn to Move Moving & Storageβ. The moving team leader βNickβ and his team did a great job loading the truck in day 1 and unloading the truck in day two. They provided early notice before arriving when there was delay due to traffic that helps to release the stress. During the move, Nick was very professional and careful in disassembling and assembling all the furnitures.
