Michael's Moving & Storage

BEWARE! Manager Bryan seemed very attentive at first. But once he had our stuff, we felt completely scammed. We were moving our 2 bedroom apartment from Ma to Fl. We were quoted for around $4,900. He offered $5/cubic foot if we booked that day. Once they packed our stuff they added about 500 cubic feet and charged an additional $2,500. They added 3 couches that we didn’t have to their inventory. When we addressed this, Bryan stated, well when we packed it, there was 1400 feet.

We’ve been through 4 interstate moves, but Michael’s Moving & Storage was by far the most stressful and unprofessional moving experience we’ve ever had. • We were repeatedly misled about delivery timelines and told over the phone our move would arrive within 14 business days, only later to be told the WRITTEN contract allowed for 21. Our belongings were delivered 3 days late, after constant false updates like “your items are being loaded today” (they weren’t — not until the 12th business day).

I moved from MA to SC to say that they are honorable and professional would BE A BLATANT LIE. I attempted to ship 2 households of priceless and family heirlooms to receive less than half of what was shipped. They delivered before I arrived in SC and claimed I made a mistake of what was missing, hard to be as i personally packed all the tubs and boxes. I called, emailed and certified mailed with NO RESPONSE. Good thing I have memories to remember all that was STOLEN FROM ME.

Michael's Moving caused $4168.62 worth of damage to our articles including two lost boxes. Michael's offered us $168.00 based on 60 cents per pound. Absurd and irresponsible. No concern for the customer. Michael is not responding to our calls and emails. Don't use Michael's Moving and Storage!

Some of the most unprofessional dispatching and customer service I have ever seen. The moving company told us 1-3pm for the window the movers would arrive to pick up our stuff for a local move, dispatched openly lied to us multiple times on the phone about movers eta saying 5 minutes, 10 minutes for multiple hours on end and lead us on until 6pm when the movers arrived, 3 hours after the end of their planned window.

I am disappointed. Our team lead was great. His teammates, however, asked to use the bathroom multiple times, and on one of those visits my husband heard the mover talking on the phone. I also witnessed that same person standing around texting. This is all time that we were being charged for. I was charged for materials that I had no idea I was going to be charged for, and I should have been informed eg mattress covers, bins??.

TLDR: wound up paying almost twice what I was quoted Longer version: I spent a while on the phone with them scheduling a multi-day move, one in which they would pick up my stuff on Monday and drop it off at the new place on Thursday. I was clear about needing this, and they quoted me a price estimate (~$900) and said it was doable. After the moving crew packed the stuff, it became clear that the move had been entered incorrectly in their system, and the crew thought it was a same-day move.

As someone who has moved more than 25 times both locally and internationally, our move and storage with Michael's was a very mixed experience. The pre-move communication was aggressive but professional. The sales rep went through inventory, boxes, cost, truck size, hours, etc and we settled move-out, storage, and move-in. On the day of, the movers arrived on time and were courteous and efficient. They labeled everything and filled an entire enormous truck. I bought them lunch and tipped.
