In their own words
Unfortunately not able to recommend James Movers for piano moves in Nanaimo. I contacted them mid-March to secure a simple move (10 minute drive) of an upright piano, within town. They confirmed a date, price point (350$ plus 10$ per stair) and time range (330-6pm) for the following Thursday. I reached on the Thursday morning re-confirming as I had not heard anything futher. I was told that 3:30-6pm was still the time frame. I stayed home from my work to ensure I was available during that window.
I do understand your frustration about the staff being late and apologize for it and the lack of communication. As for the Piano move went well after discussion you were given a $50 reduction in your cost for your frustration.
Three hours late to move. Life happens but no communication - had to follow up on our end and was waiting around all day. They moved the piano super effortlessly into the home which was appreciated. The price then came to $150 more than I’d been quoted. The company had made no effort to improve our satisfaction. Overall, not a positive experience.
Thank you for your feedback, sorry for your experience. We try to communicate times as best we can on the day when things change. I did call you soon as I knew we were going to be late also had my employee confirm eta.
I scheduled a move for my grand piano for June 29, 2024 through Kevan James. They confirmed with me on April 29, 2024 by phone that they would pick up my piano on June 28, 2024 and would deliver it in the early morning of June 29th. They told me that the piano would need to go through the back porch as going up the stairs from the front door would be too difficult. They seemed professional and knew what they were doing. A week before the scheduled move I tried to reach out to them to confirm the appointment.
What a dog and pony show! My aunt hired you to move her belongings. You quoted her $700. While she was meeting with a utility company representative at her new place you decided it was appropriate to take instructions from her neighbour and moved stuff she intended to donate. As a result you charged her overtime for the extra boxes to the tune of $1350. She can’t be in 2 places at once. You couldn’t call and confirm with her given that you already had an agreement? Did I mention that she has a disability!?
I discussed on multiple times with your aunt about the miscommunication that happened. Unfortunately, my staff did not know that they were not representatives of your aunt and was told to load everything.

In their own words
Dan and Matt helped us with a move after a snow dump onto Victoria on the 28th Dec! They showed up early and were unfazed by the weather and challenging roads! They were professional, polite, conscientious, friendly and were delicate with moving our belongings to ensure that they were well taken care of! They were also super strong to be able to move a heavy couch! It really helped to alleviate so much of our stress with the move and they were so reasonably priced too. I would definitely recommend them!
Wow! Thanks for the great review, all the best.
We hired James Movers to move and old heavy piano and take it away. From the beginning of the process through the removal of piano James Movers provided excellent customer service, great value for the service and absolutely no damage to our home. We would highly recommend them.
Thank you for the review Kelly was there anything that could’ve been done differently? That would weren’t a five star review?
James Movers are amazing! We had an important move between homes which included the most difficult couch in the history of moving, and everything went better than planned! Our two pros were Dan and Tim, a great team who impressed over and over - from introductions right through to thank yous. I would request them again for future moves and have recommended them to friends.
I highly recommend Matt, James, and Dan from James Movers! Recently, they moved my Yamaha G5 grand piano, and their service was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment they arrived, their efficiency was evident as they carefully packed up the piano for transport. However, the real test came when we reached the new location. The staircase proved to be a formidable challenge, and the piano, with all its protective gear, wouldn't fit.
