Southside Moving and Storage

Male with the long hair completely disrespectful to my mother when he moved her furniture and items back in March. Emotionally unstable and completely disrespectful over moving 5 more boxes than what she was quoted. We would never recommend this moving organization. This review was left now as my mother is not into review leaving on social sites, but I AM. I wish I was there when this occurred.

We decided to go with this company after using them twice before for local moves. This time, our move was a little further away but not much and required the company to keep our belongings overnight. Long story short--we have severe damage to several items and even some things missing, like a small tv and step stool. We've filed a claim and my husband keeps getting the run-around when he contacts the company for reimbursement.

Simple move from Hampton to Virginia Beach. Quoted $900 and charged credit card over $2000. Very inept and would not answer phone calls after the move.

My experience with Southside was by far the worst I have ever had. I moved on September 28th- booking was easy enough, and they even called to confirm. That’s where the good experience ended. The movers that showed up introduced themselves, and we walked through the apartment together to talk about what was being moved (I’d already told of all the items on the phone with the sales rep, so this part was easy).

Horrible service!! Pre-paid for my TVs to be box. None were...they were wrapped in blue blankets. Scratched screen... 90 year old grandfathers antique sailboat was supposed to be packed in a special box. No box they just threw it in the truck on top of other furniture. Needless to say it was damaged beyond repair. 3 1/2’ Beautiful custom made heron statue was supposed to be boxed because it’s fragile. No box thrown in the truck, neck is completely busted off and wire showing.

As someone who’s done several moves with the military, This Is NOT the company to go with. 1. I wouldn’t call what they do an “estimate”. It a ploy to get you to use them, then the price goes up (almost by 3x in my case). 2. Half -a** pack job and partially packed rooms added both time and materials to BOTH days and ALSO caused me to have to rent another storage unit last minute because my 4 br house wouldn’t fit in a 10x30. 3.

When I originally scheduled this moved I asked if the technicians assembled furniture. I was told yes if it’s just the bed it won’t be any problem. However once they arrived I politely asked may they assemble the bed for me. I received extremely unprofessional comments from the technicians and I was told how I can do it by myself. I called Matt to resolve the issue and then the bed was put together partially.

I give them two stars because they did get me moved. Also, the two movers were polite and acted professionally, albeit a bit slowly. And they only broke one thing (my 52" plasma TV). My complaint lies in the fact that they refused to address the damage that they did to my television. The workers were clearly at fault - I saw it happen - but the company quite literally refused to even speak with me about it.
